He Gave Me Hearing, Then Taught Me What Silence Really Means novel Chapter 140

She thought she was seeing things because all these headlines had dropped out of nowhere. It was glaringly obvious someone was out to destroy Yorke.

Yorke was still screaming obscenities at her door when his phone rang. His agent's voice on the other end was hysterical.

"Yorke! We're screwed!"

"Whatever it is, it can wait until after I screw Juniper!"

"Yorke, check the news! Your location just got leaked! You need to get out of the hotel right now!"

Yorke frowned. He genuinely had no idea what was happening. Hanging up the phone, he was just about to check the internet when he heard a cacophony of car horns blaring from outside.

The hotel's security was top-tier, keeping all the trespassers locked out, which led the desperate, bloodthirsty reporters to start violently laying on their horns.

The noise was ear-splitting. Yorke finally opened the trending tab, and all the blood instantly drained from his face.

How could this be happening?!

He entirely forgot about Juniper, scrambling back into his own room and double-locking the door in a blind panic.

A knock sounded at Juniper's door. It was the hotel manager's voice.

She opened the door, and the manager spoke with polished warmth. "Ms. Lane, the guest next door is being targeted by a massive swarm of reporters. We anticipate some might try to break in using underhanded methods. To ensure you aren't caught in the crossfire, the hotel has upgraded you to our penthouse suite free of charge. Please gather your things and follow me."

She didn't have much to bring anyway, just her crutch.

She quietly followed the manager up to the penthouse.

The suite was sprawling, offering a breathtaking view that placed every surrounding building directly beneath her feet.

Before coming here, she had forced herself to splurge on a standard room, which cost nearly a thousand dollars a night. She couldn't even fathom the price tag on a suite like this.

The manager stood by the door. "Consider this the hotel's apology. We hope the situation with the other guest hasn't caused you too much distress. Have a good night, Ms. Lane."
