He Gave Me Hearing, Then Taught Me What Silence Really Means novel Chapter 134

The old lady hadn't expected her to be so perceptive and notice it right away.

Facing Juniper, her attitude softened instantly. "Alistair's family has some unresolved issues, and I was worried about dragging you into a mess later on, so I put it on hold. Why, does our June want to start dating?"

Juniper didn't look at Nelson. She feared his silence; the quieter he was, the more psychotic he became.

Perhaps she really should try that idea she had before—finding a man to marry as quickly as possible.

It was foolish, but it was the only solution she could come up with right now.

She didn't know what else to do.

"Yes."

The old lady's face instantly lit up with a beaming smile. "That's easy! I'll have Nelson recommend a few good men. He definitely has some suitable candidates in his circles. We'll vet them together and find you a great guy to date."

"I want to get married as soon as possible. My mother has been pressuring me too. You know how people back home marry young."

The customs in her hometown were just like that—forbidding dating during school but expecting you to get married the second you graduated.

Counting the years, it had been four years since Juniper graduated, so her family was definitely breathing down her neck.

And her family was so incredibly difficult. If they arranged for her to marry some total loser, this poor girl probably wouldn't even know how to fight back.

The old lady hadn't been in a rush before, but hearing this made her instantly anxious. She looked over at Nelson. "Tomorrow, I want you to send me the profiles of ten suitable men. We'll pick one out together. We need to get this settled fast so June's family stops harassing her."

Nelson didn't even glance their way, idly toying with the remote. "Do you think the men in this city are cheap produce for her to just pick and choose?"

"Nelson!"

The old lady looked ready to smack him twice, giving him a stern warning. "Just send me the profiles of men you think are suitable tomorrow, and I'll choose one. June really does need to date. The more experience she has, the less likely she is to get tricked in the future."

Nelson scoffed, tossing the remote aside, and headed upstairs.

The old lady followed him, thumping her cane. "What are you doing? Didn't I tell you to go home?"
