Nelson's expression remained perfectly calm as he rested his hands on the blankets. "Do you really think she's capable of that?"
Yvonne searched his face for a lie, but he simply leaned back casually, his tone flat. "It's probably just the rejection reaction. Didn't the doctors warn us about this years ago?"
Yvonne frowned, her tone softening slightly. "I'll look into it. If it really does have something to do with Juniper, I'll make sure she's exiled from this city."
She sat down beside him and poured him a glass of water. "You need to take better care of yourself. Your grandfather is on his way too. You scared everyone to death."
Nelson lowered his eyelashes, not looking like a man who had just been furious. "Yeah, it's a good time for a full checkup anyway."
But the moment he finished speaking, Felicity burst into the room. "Nelson, are you covering for Juniper? I distinctly saw you arguing with her! I..."
Before she could finish, her eyes met Nelson's.
Felicity flinched, swallowing hard as a cold sweat broke out on her forehead.
She had always been a little afraid of her cousin; whenever his face darkened like that, she couldn't help but tremble.
But she had grown up spoiled by both sides of the family, so she stiffened her neck, though her voice instinctively softened. "I'm not lying..."
Yvonne looked at her. "Where were Nelson and Juniper arguing?"
Felicity instantly felt an unbearable weight pressing down on her, not even daring to meet Nelson's gaze.
She swallowed repeatedly, her face draining of color out of pure fear. "Maybe... maybe I saw it wrong. I just saw Nelson standing with a woman, and I had heard some rumors, so..."
Yvonne glared at Nelson. "Which woman were you standing with?"
"Lydia. I bumped into her at the hotel."
Nelson answered smoothly, rubbing his temples again. "Do I have to report it to you every time I stand next to a woman?"
Only then did Yvonne drop the interrogation, sighing in relief. "I'll have the doctor give you a full workup. You haven't had any rejection symptoms in years, and now suddenly... If it's serious..."
She was visibly anxious and restless. After all, Nelson was the precious heir of the Saint family.
