Nelson's expression darkened, but he only pulled Juniper tighter into his arms, taking long strides down the corridor toward the elevator.
Alistair Vaughn, wearing thin gold-rimmed glasses, turned and walked away without saying a single word to Julian.
Julian rubbed his jaw and returned to his private booth, where Miles Whitaker was quietly eating his meal.
Julian slapped the table. Even after knowing him for so many years, he still couldn't quite read Miles's personality. "The show's over. Nelson cornered that girl in the washroom. Who knows what he did, but it definitely didn't look like anything good."
Miles lifted his gaze. His aura was more silent and composed than anyone else's. He occasionally joined these discussions, but mostly, he gave off a detached vibe. He slowly set down his silverware. "Was his ex-girlfriend named Juniper Lane?"
Julian smirked, propping up his chin. "Yeah, Juniper. She apparently has a hearing impairment. The Saint family will definitely never approve of her."
Especially the Saint family patriarch—he would absolutely forbid it.
Right now, Nelson's older brother was receiving medical treatment abroad, and no one knew his actual condition. The entire burden of the Saint family rested on Nelson's shoulders. As the heir, he couldn't afford a single misstep. If the mighty CEO of the Saint Group got involved with a deaf woman with no background, the family would undoubtedly launch an inquisition.
Let alone the family, the women secretly harboring crushes on Nelson could easily crush Juniper into dust.
When it came to romance, Nelson was exactly as he used to be—reckless and unyielding.
He was practically courting death.

Nelson settled Juniper into the passenger seat. Her hearing aid had been cutting in and out since the night she got hurt. One second she could hear, the next she couldn't.
She took the device out and stared at it intently.
Nelson sat in the driver's seat. Catching her movement from the corner of his eye, he stepped on the gas. "Is it broken?"
She didn't answer.
Her silence was always infuriating.
Just then, his phone rang. It was Lydia.
"Nelson, are you home?"
He leaned back against the seat. "What's wrong?"
"Josie has a fever. I'm at the hospital right now. The doctor said she might have eaten something bad. She won't be able to go to St. Jude’s Academy tomorrow."
His brows furrowed as he immediately pulled the car over to the side of the road.
"Is it serious? I'm coming over now."
