Chapter 261

That was the weakest excuse Nancy could have given.

As Vance pocketed his phone, Catherine asked, “What’s going on?”

“Nothing Nancy just quit,” Vance replied.

Catherine heaved a sigh of relief. But even if Nancy had spilled everything, so what?

Since she dared to do that, Catherine wasn’t afraid of the consequences. Even Rebecca couldn’t compete with her, let alone Nancy.

She had nearly gotten Rebecca killed, and Vance had still taken her side. The thought made her beam as she yanked the dress out of the garment bag.

“Wow, this dress is gorgeous! Is it for me?” she gasped.

Vance glanced over. “That is Rebecca’s.”

“Rebecca?” Catherine’s eyes swiveled. “Perfect. I’ve got a charity gala coming up. Aiden and Lucas are taking me. I don’t have anything to wear. Can I borrow this one?”

Vance hesitated. “It’s Rebecca’s size. You might not even fit. I’ll take you shopping instead. This is just a local designer’s studio. Why not grab something from Dior or Chanel?”

“No way.” Catherine held the dress up against herself, turning this way and that. “You have no idea how popular Derek Sinclair is right now. He studied in the U.K., worked for all those big companies, then came home and opened his own couture studio. It’s blowing up overseas. Tons of celebrities wear his stuff on the red carpet, and even they can’t always get an appointment.”

“Really?” Vance hadn’t paid attention to fashion since Rebecca took over his wardrobe five years ago.

“Yes. Please, let me just try it on. If it fits, let me have it, okay?” she said.

Before he could answer, she snatched the dress and disappeared into the guest bathroom.
