He Didn’t Kidnap Me. Not Exactly novel Chapter 24

Chapter 24

He stopped.

Good.

I stepped forward, my voice rising before I could stop it.

“You took me out of my life because of something you got wrong. Not me. You!” I pointed at him. “I didn’t ask for this didn’t choose this. You dragged me into it.”

He turned slowly, his expression unreadable.

I didn’t stop.

“I have school,” I continued, my words coming faster now. “I have presentations next week. I have assignments. I have a job- had a job. I have things that I was actually building; things that matter, and I’m missing all of it because of you!”

My chest tightened, but I pushed through it.

“I’m not the person you were looking for. I’m not connected to Roman Volkov in any way that helps you. He doesn’t even care about me. He didn’t come to see me!” My voice faltered slightly before I forced it steady again. “So why am I still

here?”

Silence.

I took a shaky breath.

“My mom is sick,” I added, quieter now, but no less intense. “She’s at home wondering where I am. I don’t have a phone. I can’t even tell her I’m alive.”

That one hit. I could feel it.

I sighed. “I’m asking you,” I said, my voice dropping, losing its edge and gaining something worse. “Please. Let me go back. You can watch me. You can track me. Do whatever you want, just- let me go back to my life.”

For a second, I felt hope as his gaze stayed on me.

But then, “You’re my hostage,” he said. “I decide what happens.”

Something inside me went very still.

And then-

“Fine.”

His brows shifted slightly.

“If that’s what I am,” I continued, my voice steadier now, “then I’ll act like it.”

I took a step back.

“I’m not cooperating. I’m not following your rules. I’m not answering when you call me. I’m not playing along like this is normal.”

A pause.

“And we are definitely not on good terms. In case that wasn’t clear. Because I can’t be with someone as cruel as you!”
