He Didn’t Kidnap Me. Not Exactly novel Chapter 214

Chapter 214

(Daisy’s POV)

I couldn’t breathe.

The apartment suddenly felt too small.

Too crowded.

Too hopeless.

Three men stood between me and the front door, their faces devoid of hesitation, while Aria remained several feet away, the syringe resting lazily between her fingers as though this were nothing more than a conversation she’d been waiting to have. The smile on her face made my stomach churn because it was still recognizably hers, yet somehow it belonged to an entirely different person. I had seen Aria smile a hundred times before. I’d laughed with that smile, trusted that smile, even found comfort in it.

This one terrified me.

Part of me still refused to accept what my eyes were seeing. The evidence was overwhelming, almost suffocating, yet some stubborn corner of my heart kept whispering that none of this could be real. That somehow I would wake up and find this had all been a nightmare born from the painkillers, the blood loss, and the endless chaos of the past few days.

But nightmares didn’t smell like gunpowder.

And they certainly didn’t point loaded pistols at you.

Aria tilted her head ever so slightly.

“So,” she said pleasantly, “have you decided?”

Her smile widened.

“Do you want the easy way…”

She glanced briefly toward the three men.

“…or shall they introduce you to the hard way?”

My legs carried me another step backward until my shoulders met the wall behind me. The impact was gentle, but it was enough to tell

me what I already knew.

There was nowhere else to go.

The men had spread out without a word, quietly closing every obvious route of escape. None of them looked impatient. None of them looked uncertain. They simply watched me with the detached focus of people waiting for instructions

My heart pounded painfully against my ribs.

“Aria…”

The name came out almost as a plea.

“You don’t have to do this.”

She said nothing.

“Whatever happened… whatever’s really bothering you… we can fix it.”

I swallowed hard.

“We were friends.”

The words almost broke me.

“We can still be friends.”

I shook my head desperately.

“I know this isn’t who you really are.”

“No.”

She lifted a finger before I could continue.

“No, no, no.”

Her tone remained almost cheerful.

“I really wouldn’t advise you to do that.”

She took one slow step toward me.

“You see all that emotional nonsense?”

She made a small circular motion with her finger.
