He Didn’t Kidnap Me. Not Exactly novel Chapter 173

Chapter 173

(Daisy’s POV)

For one horrifying second, my brain refused to accept what my eyes were seeing.

The stadium remained loud around me. Students were cheering. Phones were recording. Players were preparing for the opening play. Somewhere nearby, girls were still yelling DeLuca’s name as though the biggest concern in the world was whether he would glance in their direction.

And high above the opposite side of the stadium, hidden among rows of seats, a man was aiming a gun directly at him.

My heart seemed to forget how to beat.

The air vanished from my lungs and everything narrowed.

The crowd disappeared then and the noise too.

All I could see was the weapon.

And DeLuca.

I shot to my feet so suddenly that I nearly collided with a guy carrying a tray loaded with an unfair amount of fries and a milkshake.

“Hey!”

He jerked backward in horror, protecting his food with the kind of dedication people usually reserved for loved ones.

“What is wrong with-

I was already gone.

I rushed down the stadium steps as fast as my legs would carry me, weaving through rows of students and bumping shoulders with anyone unfortunate enough to be standing in my path. Several people complained. One person cursed. Another nearly lost their drink because of me.

I ignored all of them.

Every second felt precious. Every second felt stolen.

The gunman was still adjusting his position. Still preparing. Still aiming. Meanwhile, my feet practically flew down the concrete steps.

A few minutes ago, I had been sitting comfortably in the stands wondering how football players survived all this running.

Now I was sprinting through a stadium like my life depended on it.

Or rather, DeLuca’s.

The realization only made me move faster.

By the time I finally reached ground level, my lungs were burning and my heartbeat had become a violent drum inside my chest. I barely paused before searching frantically for the fastest route.

The distance immediately hit me

The gunmen were far.

Too far.

The upper seating sections stretched endlessly above me and even if I started climbing toward them now, I wasn’t sure I would reach them before the shot was taken.

DeLuca was also far away, standing near the sideline and completely oblivious.

The game officials were moving into position. Staff members were scattered around the field. Players were gathering. The entire stadium seemed to be sliding naturally toward the beginning of the match while I stood there being the only person aware that a disaster was secords away.

My gaze snapped back toward the gunmen.

One of them leaned closer, the weapon shifted and a quiet exchange passed between them.

With that, something inside me finally overrode every remaining sensible thought.

I stopped caring about rules.

I stopped caring about consequences.

I stopped caring about anything except reaching DeLuca before that trigger was pulled.

So I ran through the game… and the moment my shoes crossed onto the field, vojćes erupted behind me.

“Hey!”

“You can’t be down there!”

“Miss!”

I heard them.

I just didn’t care.

The grass blurred beneath my feet as I charged forward, and for the first few seconds I was so focused on running that I forgot something incredibly

important.

I had a voice.

I could scream. I could warn people. I could tell them what was happening,

The realization hit me like a slap.

“Stop them!” I yelled.

My voice cracked.
