Chapter 145
(Daisy’s POV)
I had escaped. Yup.
I walked quickly through another hallway now with my bag dutched against my side while internally congratulating myself for fleeing that situation before
it could fully develop into public disaster.
Because absolutely not.
I had already learned from my accidental involvement with DeLuca that this school treated attractive guys like government property.
People became weird.
Protective. Possessive. Delusional.
And now Archer had apparently entered the campus hierarchy of dangerously good-looking men everybody suddenly revolved their personalities around.
Fantastic for him.
Terrifying for me.
Especially because if people discovered I actually knew him?
Absolutely not.
I had already survived enough nonsense this semester.
I did not need another wave of girls staring at me like I had personally stolen oxygen from the atmosphere. And honestly, I should have expected this from
the beginning.
The guy looked like he walked out of a luxury perfume commercial and into real life by accident, so, of course this school would lose its mind over him.
Still, I was grateful I escaped before Aria would call his attention and I would be the one to catch it.
Sigh..
Peace. That was all I wanted now.
Peace and maybe financial stability. Not much to ask from life, honestly.
“Hey! Kiss-cam girl.”
I stopped walking immediately.
I turned slowly and Nathan stood across the courtyard with two of his boys behind him.
Something felt wrong instantly.
Not because he was truly there, but because of the way he looked.
There was no smirk. No playful arrogance, and no amused expression like usual.
He looked angry and didn’t give me time to think why as he started toward me at once.
I instinctively stepped back.
His boys shifted slightly too, not fully surrounding me, but enough for the moment to suddenly feel smaller.
And familiar.
My stomach tightened.
“Um…” I started carefully. “What is happening?”
Nathan stopped directly in front of me, and for a second, he just stared.
Then finally:
“You don’t know what is going on?”
His tone was controlled and tight.
“I… don’t think so?”
“But you’re the cause of it.”
I blinked.
“What?”
“You put me in this position.”
Okay now I was genuinely confused.
“Nathan,” I said slowly, “I really don’t know what we’re referring to right now.”
“Oh, but you do.”
His jaw tightened.
“That Adrian guy. Mister mysterious new hotshot. Campus obsession. Future sex cult leader.”
