He Didn’t Kidnap Me. Not Exactly novel Chapter 129

Chapter 129

That landed heavily and several men visibly stiffened.

My father stared at me quietly. Then laughed once.

Short. Disbelieving.

“I can see it now,” he said. “It is worse than I thought.”

His gaze hardened.

“You have been thoroughly brainwashed.”

“These are my words,” I replied evenly. “And they are genuine.”

The room grew colder.

“You have lost your mind!”

His voice rose slightly for the first time.

“This empire runs through your blood. Through your name. Through your making!”

His eyes locked onto mine.

“You do not get to walk away from destiny because a woman distracted you.”

“I never said I was walking away.”

“Then what exactly are you saying?”

“I said I needed time.”

That finally broke something in him.

“Time?” he repeated sharply.

Then louder-

“Time for what?”

His composure cracked visibly now.

“To attend campus parties?!”

“To sit in libraries reading useless books?!”

“To drive women around the city while forgoing your reality?!”

His voice echoed through the chamber.

“You’ve lost all your values and have become a disgrace!”

Silence followed. Heavy silence.

Then I spoke.

“You mean the values you forced onto me before I was old enough to choose for myself?”

His expression darkened instantly.

“You built a destiny for me before I even understood what one was.”

I stepped closer now.

“This empire was never my dream.”

The room stayed completely still.

“My vengeance for my mother was real,” I continued. “That was mine. Hunting Volkov was mine.”

My jaw tightened slightly.

“But everything beyond that?”

I looked directly at him.

“That belonged to you.”

Something dangerous flickered across his face.

“So this,” he said slowly, “is the gratitude I receive for giving you power?”

His voice sharpened.

“For giving you supremacy? Wealth? Fear?”

“I never asked for any of it.”

He moved and the wine bottle at his fist shattered against the floor.

Glass exploded violently across the chamber. Several men flinched.

Nobody spoke.

While my father stood there breathing heavily for one brief moment before forcing himself calm again.

Then he looked at me differently.

Like something disappointing.

“You have become weak.”

The words landed flatly.

Coldly.

“And it is all because of that girl.”

My hands clenched instinctively.

“I should have killed her when I had the chance.” He added and the room grew even tighter.

He continued anyway.

“And the you stand here speaking about freedom while abandoning your mother’s vengeance halfway through.”

His gaze narrowed.

“Do you think she would be proud of what you’ve become?”

I took one slow step forward.

“You do not get to judge me or my attempt when you chose to do nothing!”

That finally flipped something in him.

“GET OUT.”

The entire chamber shook with the force of his voice.

Nobody moved.
