He Didn’t Kidnap Me. Not Exactly novel Chapter 122

Chapter 122

(Daisy’s POV)

“Yeah. She’s definitely the one.”

I stopped breathing.

Not metaphorically.

Actually.

Because there was a gun pressed against my side.

An actual gun. Like… metal. Cold metal against my body.

Oh my God.

My thoughts crashed into each other so violently I couldn’t even separate them properly.

Gun.

Kidnapping.

Death.

News headline.

Mother crying on television.

Lillian stealing my clothes after I die.

I swallowed hard and then the man behind me tightened his grip on my arm slightly.

“Walk.”

My legs obeyed immediately. Thankfully, my survival instincts were very active today.

I started moving before my brain could even process it properly, my heart pounding so hard it physically hurt.

There was a black SUV parked a few feet away.

Dark windows.

Engine running.

This was insane. Actually insane… and most crazily, why is it happening to me?

Again.

Because right now, it’s looking like the whole wrong kidnapping saga I had had with DeLuca.

“You people have the wrong person,” I said quickly, because silence suddenly felt dangerous. “Like genuinely wrong. Financially wrong

too. I’m a very bad kidnapping choice.”

Nobody answered.

I kept talking anyway.

“I literally lost my job yesterday,” I continued nervously. “There are richer students. Have you seen Nathan? He practically glows with

inherited wealth.”

“Quiet,” the man behind me muttered.

I nodded immediately, and truthfully, I shouldn’t be suggesting the kidnap of someone else.

“Right. Sorry.”

We got closer to the SUV and panic started clawing properly at my chest now.

Because this was real.

This was no longer school drama. Not Mabel. Not rumors. Not kiss cam humiliation. This was kidnap and this time, it looked more serious and terrifyingly organized.

The men moved too professionally and too calmly. No panic. No shouting. And no confusion.

The realization made me weak.

I glanced around desperately.

The road was quieter here now. Not empty, but distant enough that nobody was paying attention. And suddenly DeLuca’s voice echoed inside my head.

You still should’ve texted me.

My stomach twisted painfully.

No.

No, I was not about to think about that right now.

One of the men opened the SUV door and the inside looked dark enough to swallow people permanently and seeing that, exploded properly in my chest as I didn’t know what they were about.

No no no.

Absolutely not.

With this resolve, I reacted before thinking. I slammed my heel backward as hard as I could and the man behind me cursed sharply as my foot connected with his shin and I twisted violently out of instinct.

Not skill.

Pure panic.

I bolted. Or tried to.

I got exactly three dramatic steps forward before someone grabbed my bag and yanked me backward so hard I nearly lost a shoulder.

“Geez,” another voice muttered. “I said don’t damage her,”

Damage me?

Like I was a rental car?

More fear surged through me and I struggled harder, elbowing blindly and almost hitting myself in the process.

Then my phone flew out of my hand and skidded across the pavement.

The screen lit up instantly.

DeLuca calling.

Everything paused, as one of the men stared down at the screen.

Then another. The atmosphere shifted immediately.

“… Of course,” one of them muttered.

The man gripping me tightened his hold slightly. “That confirms it.”
