Chapter 117
DeLuca started taking off his coat casually.
“I told you already,” he continued. “She’s not my type.”
He dropped the coat over a chair.
“I only choose women I want.”
I swallowed slowly.
“Oh.”
Then he looked back at me.
“You don’t sound disturbed.”
I straightened immediately.
“Why would I be disturbed?”
“Because I thought this was what you wanted,” he said smoothly. “For us to get closer.”
“Okay,” I started quickly, “first of all, I never said I wanted you to sleep with anybody.”
He said nothing.
“Second,” I continued, “I’m just… indifferent.”
The word sounded weak even to me.
“I want you guys to get to know each other,” I corrected awkwardly. “Not… jump into whatever.”
“Really?”
“Yes.”
His fingers moved to the hem of his shirt.
Then he pulled it off… and my thoughts died immediately.
Oh.
Oh, this was uncomfortable.
I swallowed so hard my throat hurt. And unfortunately, DeLuca noticed that too.
“So you don’t care who I sleep with?” he asked casually.
“No.”
The answer came out embarrassingly weak.
Then he started walking toward me. Slowly.
And every step somehow made the room hotter.
“Really?” he asked again.
“Yes,” I forced out.
Lie.
Massive lie.
—
No. I’m not lying. What.. what am I saying?
His gaze stayed fixed on my face as he approached.
“What if I slept with Lillian?”
I blinked.
“What?”
“Your roommate,” he clarified calmly. “Would you care?”
I forced my eyes away from his chest with the strength of a soldier going to war.
