He Didn’t Kidnap Me. Not Exactly novel Chapter 110

Chapter 110

I leaned back in my seat. “…You are incredibly annoying.”

I’ve been told,

I exhaled. “Okay. Fine. You like everything else: Great.”

I paused, then continued carefully. “So… you’d probably like someone who’s beautiful, funny, smart, Maybe dark-haired. Confident.

That kind of person.”

He glanced at me. “You think so?”

“Yes.”

“That s… tolerable.”

“Tolerable?’ I turned to him. “That is a premium combination!”

He smirked slightly. “Alright. Acceptable.”

I rolled my eyes. “Good. Glad we’ve established that.”

A beat passed and then I added, carefully: “So… uh, there’s a possibility that someone like that, uhm, might be-

“Is it one of your friends who has a crush?” he cut in smoothly.

I froze. Then glared. “You are so full of yourself.”

“It wasn’t?”

“…Not entirely.”

He raised a brow.

I know you think very highly of yourself, I continued, “but you’ll actually be impressed when you see her.”

Oh?” he said lightly. “Now I’m curious.”

I groaned. “Why did I even start this conversation?”

“I don’t know,” he said. “But I’m looking forward to meeting this impressive friend.”

I sank into my seat. I had no idea if that went well or not. Probably not. Definitely not….Maybe.

We drove the rest of the way in relative silence.

By the time we got home, I had mentally replayed that conversation at least six times and found six different ways I could have done it better. Which was unhelpful.

I went straight upstairs. No hesitation. No distractions. This was now a mission.

I started cleaning. Not just my space. Everything. Lillian’s side. The common area. Surfaces that had done absolutely nothing wrong but were now victims of my anxiety. I wiped. Arranged. Rearranged. Adjusted things that did not need adjusting

At some point, I took a shower, changed into something comfortable, and kept going. Adrian was somewhere in the apartment. I didn’t check. I didn’t need to. As long as he was here, we were good.

Time passed. Evening settled in. Then my phone buzzed.

Aria: Almost there. Two minutes.

My heart jumped. “Oh God.”

I looked around. Everything looked… good. Good enough. Maybe.
