After finally finding an apartment she liked, the deal fell through. Unaware of the underlying tension, the assistant immediately apologized. "Ms. Evert, this is my fault. I'll be much more careful next time."

Marina laughed. "It has nothing to do with you. Just keep looking."

"Right away!" the assistant nodded repeatedly.

Marina had just signed a document when her phone rang. It was Erin Yeats.

"Erin!" Marina answered.

"Hey, gorgeous! I'm heading to J City for a business trip tomorrow. Get ready to roll out the red carpet," Erin said cheerfully.

Marina raised an eyebrow in pleasant surprise. "What time? I'll pick you up at the airport."

"No need, the clients are sending a car for us. I should be done by late afternoon. Just go about your day and make sure the nightlife is fully booked!" Erin demanded playfully.

Marina couldn't help but smile. "What tier of service are we talking?"

"At least the same standard as when you visited H City!" Erin teased.

"You got it," Marina said breezily.

"I'm going to be too excited to sleep tonight!" Erin clicked her tongue.

"Nerd," Marina chuckled.

Erin ended up drinking quite a bit. Halfway through the night, she went to the restroom and didn't come back for ages.

Starting to worry, and seeing Erin's phone still on the table, Marina walked out to find her.

As she navigated the dimly lit hallway, she noticed a crowd gathered outside the restrooms. From a distance, she could hear Erin arguing loudly. Marina's stomach dropped.

She pushed her way through the onlookers and saw a woman dripping in flashy jewelry screaming in Erin's face. "Do you have any idea how much this dress cost? The price tag alone would give a broke bitch like you a heart attack!"

"Just tell me how much it is, and I'll pay you back!" Erin shot back.

"Twelve thousand dollars. Which means you owe me a hundred and twenty thousand!" the woman sneered.

Erin's eyes widened. "You bought it for twelve grand, and you're extorting me for ten times the amount?"

The woman lifted her chin arrogantly. "It's a limited edition. The only one in J City. You're paying me ten times the cost, or else!"
