Verity:
"Yeah, I wanted some time off too, but it’s okay," I casually mentioned, making eye contact with Gigi.
Right now, I was helping her, so she knew she had to keep me happy, or at least make it seem like she was on my side so I would remain on hers.
"How many days do you want off?" she asked.
"Just two days," I answered.
"Well, then what’s the problem? Give her two days. You’re going away on a trip anyway," Gigi insisted, placing her hand on Ragnar’s arm.
I noticed the deliberate gentleness of her movement as she slowly ran her fingertips along his arm. It was just weird.
"Yeah, but that’s exactly why she has to stay here and deal with the other stuff," he explained, clearing his throat.
"Come on, baby. Please, for me," Gigi pleaded, running her fingers along his jawline and brushing them over his beard, creating a faint scratching sound.
"Okay, fine. Only two days."
Finally, Ragnar’s stiffness faded, and he gave in to her.
"There you go. You have two days off now. Go enjoy yourself." Gigi’s tone changed as she looked at me and smiled. "Go, go, go now before he changes his mind."
She let out a little laugh, making me very uncomfortable.
"Thank you so much, Gigi," I replied before turning around to leave.
But as I walked away, I overheard a little of their conversation.
"Baby, let’s get out of this garden. This place gives me the heebie-jeebies."
So she felt it too. That meant I wasn’t the only one who had noticed how unsettling the garden was.
I went to my wing and packed my things.
However, I had no idea what I was going to do once I was with Roman.
I wasn’t planning on staying with him. Never.
Or losing my virginity to him.
But then how was I supposed to get out of this mess?
I was overwhelmed with anxiety and had no idea what to do next.
I wheeled my bag out, and thankfully, there was no one in the living room to see me leave.
A part of me desperately wanted someone to stop me.
At the same time, I knew I couldn’t stay because of whatever the fuck Roman knew about me.
I had already called myself a cab, and I didn’t get to see anyone before I left.
I had no idea what Theodore and Jaguar were doing.
All I knew was that if I lost my virginity because of Roman’s threats and blackmail, then I would come back and sleep with the others.
There would be no plotting or planning left. I would just take the game up a notch.
I didn’t even know why I had been guarding my virginity so carefully.
It wasn’t like I could protect it forever.
I guessed I had been trying to decide which brother I would give in to first.
I wasn’t sure why that mattered so much to me. Maybe because of my game.
As I sat in the car and the drive began, thousands of thoughts raced through my head.
