Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 1262

"You really don't understand my son at all, Bella," Debbie sneered, leaning back with a dismissive laugh. "You think one measly finger is going to make him flinch? He's been praying for my death for years."

"With all his wealth, his intelligence, and his massive network, do you honestly think he doesn't already know you're holding me captive? You are incredibly naive!"

Bella scrutinized Debbie. The woman sounded completely unhinged, making it impossible to read her true intentions. Bella had planned to use Debbie as her ultimate trump card, a weapon to secure a massive divorce settlement or force Sebastian to call off the separation entirely.

Sebastian was his mother's flesh and blood. He couldn't just let her die. If word got out that the great Sebastian Blake had abandoned his own mother to be butchered, the public backlash would destroy his reputation. He cared too much about his image to let that happen.

"What the hell are you playing at?" Bella warned, stepping closer. "Cut the act. You conned me out of hundreds of millions, swearing you'd pay it back. That's the only reason I took on those underground loans! Do you have any idea how much danger I'm in? If it weren't for you, I wouldn't be drowning in this mess."

"I don't care how you do it, but you are going to pay me back every single penny. If you don't, losing a finger will be the least of your worries. I will make you wish you were dead. Try me."

Debbie erupted into maniacal laughter. "You can't threaten me, Bella! Go ahead, beat me half to death. You'll still have to pay a doctor to stitch me back up. Chop off a finger? Chop off my whole damn arm! It makes no difference to me."

"I know a thing or two about being the other woman. It's a disgusting, toxic life. But karma is a bitch, isn't it? Look at us. It all comes back around in the end. Look at me, and then take a good, hard look at you and your mother..."

Debbie was rambling, thoroughly enjoying the sound of her own voice, completely oblivious to the catastrophic shift in Bella's demeanor.

Bella's face had drained of color, then morphed into a mottled, furious red. Her fists were clenched so tightly that her perfectly manicured nails bit painfully into her palms. She had reached her absolute breaking point.
