Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 1250

Lillian and Leonard Prescott rode back in silence.

Eventually, Leonard spoke first. "I shouldn't have interfered today. If I hadn't suggested you visit him, you wouldn't have heard those hurtful words."

It was true. Even though Lillian had already decided to let go of her son, hearing those venomous words still felt like a punch to the gut.

She hadn't spoken since leaving the villa. Noah was her flesh and blood, yet he loathed her, treating her like a monster.

It was as if her mere existence disgusted him.

Lillian didn't have much family left. Not that she was desperate for familial ties, but a son was inherently different from anyone else.

She shook her head slightly. "It has nothing to do with you. Your suggestion just gave me an out. Since the last incident, I've been reflecting. Since I brought him into this world, shouldn't I take responsibility for raising him? But after everything that's happened... whether it's his true nature or someone else poisoning his mind, it's clear he really doesn't need me anymore. And I suppose I don't really need a son, either."

She offered a faint smile and instructed the driver to head to the office.

She had skipped work yesterday, and it was time to get back.

The Mercer Group was swamped, and she still needed to find time for factory inspections.

These tasks couldn't be delayed.

Leonard gently squeezed her hand. Right now, he couldn't promise if they would ever have children of their own.

Given both of their physical conditions, the future was full of uncertainty.

If Noah was destined to be Lillian's only child, he naturally hoped their bond would improve. But some things simply couldn't be forced.

Lillian pushed Noah to the back of her mind and threw herself into her work the moment she stepped into the office.

When the call came through, Brandon smirked at the caller ID.

Sebastian was actually calling him?

He answered without hesitation.

"Mr. Blake. To what do I owe this rare pleasure?"

Sebastian skipped the pleasantries. "Mr. Mercer, there's no need for us to be enemies. Even without a business partnership, Noah is still your nephew, isn't he?"

At the mention of Noah, Brandon dropped his sarcastic tone.

"Didn't the Blake family send Noah overseas? Why bring him up?"
