Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 1238

Eleanor was supposed to be the worthless wretch she had trampled into the mud, yet here she was, using her daughter's power to lord over her.

Sabrina Ward couldn't fathom how a woman she had once utterly defeated was now forcing her to grovel at her feet and beg for forgiveness.

Only now did Sabrina realize just how excruciating this task truly was.

Initially, she had thought it would be easy to agree to. It was just an apology, right? She had done far dirtier things in her life; what was a little submission?

But when it came time to actually do it, Sabrina found the reality suffocating. Overcoming the sheer humiliation was far from simple.

Seeing Sabrina standing rigidly, unable to bring herself to bend, Lillian Mercer took a slow sip of her milk. "If it's too difficult, don't force yourself. Right?"

At Lillian's words, Martin Mercer immediately shot Sabrina a harsh glare.

This wasn't something they could just back out of. He had already gone through with his part, and they absolutely could not afford to let Sabrina abandon the plan halfway through.

Otherwise, they would be in serious trouble.

Catching Martin's look, Sabrina's heart skipped a beat. She had never seen such a predatory, ferocious gleam in his eyes.

When had he ever looked at her like that?

That single glare terrified her so completely that her legs gave out, and she collapsed onto the grass. Her forehead practically touched the dirt. She felt entirely out of control, like a puppet forced into this humiliating display against her will.

This total surrender was required, but her mind had gone completely blank. She had no idea what to say.

"Say something..." Martin urged, panicking. A few perfunctory words would suffice to get them through this.

Staying silent would only ruin everything.

Sabrina felt like her head was splitting open. She couldn't string a single thought together.

The sheer force of the blow left Sabrina reeling.

First Martin, now Eleanor. Coming completely out of nowhere, the sudden pain was excruciating.

Her dignity was already shattered. Over these past few days, she had lost every shred of pride she possessed.

But the stinging pain radiating across her cheek was intensely real.

"What, is my mother not allowed to hit you?" Lillian asked coldly, catching the venomous glare Sabrina was directing at Eleanor.

Sabrina finally snapped out of her daze. She lowered her head, tears welling in her eyes.

She had known this trip would be torment, but she never imagined it would be this degrading.
