Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 1148

Noah kept his head bowed, his face the picture of misery. He had no idea what he had even done wrong.

But Sebastian hadn't heard a satisfactory answer, and his tone only grew colder and heavier.

"Noah, do you still not understand what you did wrong today?"

Already overwhelmed with grievance, Noah burst into tears at Sebastian's harsh reprimand. He lifted a hand to wipe his eyes, and it was only then that Sebastian noticed the blood on the back of the boy's hand.

He reached out and pulled Noah closer.

"Look at yourself. Is this how a man acts? What did I teach you on the way here? I told you to call her Mom, not to throw a tantrum and act like a spoiled brat in her house. Do you have any idea that you ruined my plans today? And you still have the nerve to cry? Let me tell you right now—if you can't win your mother's heart, you can forget about staying by my side."

Tears pooled in Noah's eyes. He didn't dare let them fall, completely confused by what Sebastian meant.

"What are you looking at? Listen to me. I don't care if you actually like her or not, but from now on, you are going to pretend you do. In two days, I'm taking you back to apologize. Until then, you will sit in your room, reflect on your behavior, and write an eight-hundred-word apology letter detailing exactly where you went wrong. And these are just superficial scratches. Someone will patch you up when we get back. Cry one more time, and see if I don't throw you out of this car right now."

Noah was utterly terrified into silence. The moment he felt a tear threaten to spill, he immediately wiped it away.

Sebastian was clearly out of patience. Having said his piece, he pulled out his laptop and began handling company emails.

The car pulled up to the Blake Group headquarters. Sebastian abandoned Noah in the vehicle and headed straight for the building.

"We can't control Sebastian anymore," Old Mrs. Blake said quietly. "He took Noah away, too. Should we have the International Faculty fly here to continue Noah's education, or just wash our hands of the whole mess?"

Old Mr. Blake remained silent for a long moment before finally speaking. "He's the sole heir of our bloodline. If we completely give up on him now, there really is no hope left. Bring the tutors over. Let him learn as much as he can. Sebastian only took him away to make a point; he won't object to Noah receiving an elite education. In fact, he'll likely welcome it."

Old Mrs. Blake nodded and stepped away to make the calls, chartering a private jet to bring Noah's educational team over.

Once the arrangements were made, she let out a heavy sigh. "Sebastian is dead set on dragging Noah into this in hopes of making Lillian come back to him. But Leonard is better than him in every conceivable way. Why would she ever choose to go back?"

Old Mr. Blake scoffed. "Even if Leonard wasn't in the picture, do you really think she'd choose him? He's completely delusional. Does he not remember what he's done? What kind of husband falsely frames his own wife—the mother of his child—and sends her to prison? Lillian was foolish back then. She let her emotions get the better of her and wasted the best years of her life sitting in a cell.
