"Returning soon?"
Bella looked at him as if he had lost his mind.
"Are you dreaming? You think Lillian can just easily waltz back into the Mercer family? Unless she's lost her memory or suffered serious brain damage, why would she ever return after the way you threw her out?"
Bella sneered, dripping with utter contempt for the Mercer men.
Brandon's expression darkened into an ugly scowl.
"What do you know? This is family. But of course, you don't even have the concept of family in your head. You're a Ward through and through—cold and heartless. No matter how good we are to you, you'll never show an ounce of gratitude."
"Brandon is right. Lillian isn't you, and she would never act like you. She will be back in the Mercer family soon enough. You'll see."
Bella eyed the two brothers coldly, wondering where on earth they were drawing this delusional confidence from.
Having viewed Lillian as her ultimate rival for years, she understood Lillian's temperament far better than these two fools did.
Otherwise, she wouldn't have been so certain that Lillian would take the fall during the incident with old Mrs. Mercer.
She had calculated everything flawlessly, knowing Lillian would walk right into the trap.
Bella had never experienced the cruelty of her own father and brothers, nor had she fully grasped the dire straits the Mercer Group was in. Because of that, she hadn't anticipated being so ruthlessly discarded herself.
However, after everything that had transpired, Bella was convinced that Lillian would only return if the Mercer family paid a devastating price.
As for what that price would be, she wasn't entirely sure what Lillian ultimately wanted.
Since the Mercer Group had locked up so much of her money, she naturally hoped Lillian would save the sinking company. That way, she could step on Lillian's shoulders and become filthy rich overnight.
But whatever the cost, the Mercer men would be the ones paying it. She was absolutely not giving up her shares!
Leonard offered a gentle smile. "It's not very convenient for me to go out right now. Could you pick them up for me? We're going to be family soon anyway, and they haven't seen you in a while. It's the perfect opportunity to spend some quality time and bond."
He was, of course, talking about his parents.
Mr. and Mrs. Prescott spent most of their time abroad managing their global enterprises. The main reason for their sudden trip to Northwyn was Leonard's relentless urging—he wanted to finalize his marriage with Lillian as soon as possible.
They hadn't been together for a lifetime, but their relationship had grown deep and solid.
Coupled with Sebastian's recent, erratic behavior, Leonard was understandably anxious to lock things down.
Lillian considered it for a moment and nodded. "Alright, I'll go to the airport. You just stay here and rest. How long are Mr. and Mrs. Prescott planning to stay in Northwyn? Will they need an itinerary planned for their trip?"
"Don't worry about that. They're very perceptive and definitely won't interrupt our private time. In fact, they're just passing through Northwyn."
