Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 1714

However, two male classmates shamelessly squeezed onto the sofa next to her, relentlessly trying to strike up a conversation.

"Sylvia, what do you usually like to do in your free time?"

"Let us exchange numbers. I might have to travel to the Capital for business after the holidays. I will take you out to dinner."

Their eager, transparent intentions were impossible to miss.

Not far away at the bar, the woman who had always disliked Sylvia stood with a cocktail in hand, glaring coldly at the corner booth. Seeing Sylvia surrounded by men yet maintaining her aloof, detached demeanor, the woman ground her teeth and muttered to her close friend standing beside her.

"I would love to rip off that fake mask of hers! Who does she think she is, acting all high and mighty here? Back in school, she was the plainest, most unremarkable girl in our entire class! Now she just got incredibly lucky and snagged a CEO title. All these guys are fawning over her, and she is just sitting there acting untouchable. Who is she trying to impress?"

Her friend, equally resentful of Sylvia's current superior attitude, let out a cold laugh. "Then let us tear off her mask. This is a nightclub. In a place this chaotic, a single woman like her is bound to get eaten alive." The friend leaned in close, her voice dropping into a malicious whisper. "Let us see how pure and innocent she acts once someone gets her into bed!"

The two women exchanged a look and smiled in tacit understanding. Turning around, they discreetly slipped a secret phrase to the bartender. This was not exactly a reputable establishment. Anyone who frequented the place knew that if you used the right codeword, the bartender would slide you a specially spiked drink. The substance itself was not strictly illegal. Even if the police tested it, it would only classify as an adult beverage meant to enhance the mood. But if it was mixed with a few other hard liquors, it would trigger a violent chemical reaction in the body.

Grabbing her phone, she hurried toward the bathrooms. Once at the sink, she turned on the faucet and splashed freezing water onto her face. The icy drops slid down her chin, but they did absolutely nothing to suppress the wild, blazing fire wreaking havoc inside her. Sylvia stared at her reflection. Her cheeks were flushed an unnatural, vibrant pink, and her nails dug painfully into her palms. She knew she had been careless. Someone had slipped something into her drink. She had to leave right now.

Wiping her face haphazardly with a paper towel, she turned and marched out of the restroom. But when she was only a few dozen feet away from her booth, the drug took full effect. Her legs suddenly gave out, feeling as soft as cotton, completely devoid of strength. Her vision began to blur, and the glaring neon lights made her violently nauseous. Desperate, she grabbed the nearest empty seat and slumped into it. The deafening bass and roaring voices around her suddenly sounded muffled, as if she were underwater. Her mind was already growing hazy, and all she could do was lay her head on the table, panting hot breaths.

She never noticed the man sitting in the shadowy blind spot right next to her, his face dark with absolute fury.
