Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 1702

Madeline's tone was fierce and overbearing. "This country estate must go to your brother for renovation. Stop causing trouble where there is none."

Sylvia stared quietly at her mother. Her eyes held no warmth, dark and heavy like ice forged blades.

Madeline inexplicably felt a chill crawl down her spine under that intense gaze.

Taking a step forward, Sylvia enunciated every word clearly. "I have already told you that Grandpa left this estate to me. Without my permission, no one is allowed to touch a single blade of grass here."

Infuriated by her daughter's unyielding attitude, Madeline raised her hand to deliver another slap. "You ungrateful wretch!"

But before the blow could land, it was intercepted in midair. Sylvia grabbed her mother's wrist and violently flung it away.

"It is true that you were Grandma and Grandpa's only daughter, but inheritance rights have never been strictly about generational order," Sylvia said, her eyes full of mockery and bitter disappointment. "Grandpa made a legal will long before he passed, leaving the estate entirely to me. It is a designated inheritance. Do you honestly have the nerve to call yourself their beloved daughter? You never showed them a single day of filial piety after you got married. When I was just three months old, you tossed me to them because you despised having a girl. From beginning to end, Grandpa and Grandma were the ones cleaning up your messes and raising your daughter for you."

Pointing toward the memorial stones in the backyard, Sylvia's voice trembled with rage. "They knew exactly what was fair. It was because you broke their hearts first that they bypassed you and left the estate to me. You are simply not worthy of this inheritance."

Madeline trembled with anger, pointing a shaking finger at Sylvia for a long time without being able to squeeze out a single word.

Harrison's face darkened as he strode forward and shoved Sylvia's shoulder. "Sylvia! Is that how you speak to our mother?"

Harrison's raised hand froze midair, his face turning an ugly shade of pale. "The police?" He looked at Sylvia in disbelief, never expecting that this woman would actually dare to call the cops on her own family.

Without giving them a second glance, Sylvia casually brushed the dust off her coat. She swept a cold gaze over the mother and son, her tone devoid of any compromise. "You trespassed on private property and attempted to alter the estate's structure without the permission of the legal heir. Whatever excuses you have, you can explain them to the police."

With that, she turned and walked down the path toward the estate gates. Before she had gone far, she saw several uniformed officers rushing swiftly through the entrance and heading up the trail. Sylvia was just about to greet them when her gaze suddenly locked onto something else.

Trailing just behind the officers was a tall, commanding figure. The man wore a high quality dark overcoat, taking long, purposeful strides up the muddy path. It was someone she completely did not expect to see, someone who had no business being here at all. Sylvia stared at the approaching figure, her brow furrowing deeply.
