Krystina and Abriella both agreed that Quincy was a perfect match for Sylvia in terms of character, looks, and the stability of his job. More importantly, the two had already been on a blind date. Abriella had checked in with Quincy afterward, and he had left with a highly favorable impression of Sylvia. Moving with absolute efficiency, the two matchmakers set their plan into motion. That very afternoon, the person delivering Sylvia's hospital food transitioned from Krystina to Quincy, who arrived in casual clothes, his tall and muscular frame filling the doorway.
Meanwhile, in a luxurious office building downtown, Steve stared at his phone screen with a dangerously dark expression. The moment Sylvia was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance, Steve had been notified. Acting on pure instinct, he leveraged his elite information network to tap into the hospital's internal security cameras. When he saw Quincy striding into the room with an insulated lunchbox, Steve's face darkened even further.
He glared coldly at the closed door of Room 5 on the screen. The man had been in there for three minutes. The timer on the footage continued to tick away, second by second, but the door remained shut. Steve felt as if a lump of wet cotton had been shoved into his chest, suffocating him. Frustrated, he grabbed his lighter, sparking it with a sharp click to light the cigarette resting between his lips. He took one fierce drag before aggressively crushing the half-smoked cigarette into his crystal ashtray. A second later, completely unable to stop himself, he pulled out another one and lit it.
Just then, a knock sounded at the door, and his assistant walked in carrying a stack of files. "Mr. Michell, we have a rather tricky case here that requires your personal review."
Steve casually set his phone face-up on the desk and took the documents. His long fingers quickly flipped through the files, maintaining the outward appearance of a calm and collected legal elite. Yet, as he exhaled a thick cloud of smoke, he gave a curt order without even looking up. "Keep your eyes on the security footage on that phone. If anyone comes out of Room 5, tell me immediately."
"You handle the follow-up on this. Push all my evening appointments back!" Dropping that command, he stormed out of the office.
Back in Room 5 of the hospital, the atmosphere was far less romantic than Steve was imagining. Sylvia sat propped up in her hospital bed, watching the rugged SWAT Captain who had suddenly appeared and was now carefully arranging light side dishes on her overbed table.
