Abriella looked him dead in the eye, mustering the courage to lecture him properly. "I know you two have been married for a while now, and you have three kids. On the surface, it seems like Emmy doesn't care at all about ceremonies or traditions. But James, Emmy is a woman first, and your wife and the mother of your children second. What girl in this world doesn't dream of putting on a pristine white wedding dress and walking toward the man she loves the most? What girl doesn't dream of standing in a sacred hall, surrounded by friends and family, hearing the man she loves declare his vows, and receiving the blessings of the entire world?"
Those words struck James's chest like a heavy hammer. He slowly stood up straight, his brows pulling into a deep, severe frown. A profound, inescapable wave of guilt and regret surged violently in his eyes.
"You are right. I completely neglected something incredibly important. Once I finish handling all these external threats, and after Emmy has completed her confinement month and fully recovered her health..." His voice grew low and gravelly, his gaze sharp and fiercely determined. "I will throw her the most grand and magnificent wedding imaginable."
Abriella raised her index finger and wagged it back and forth very seriously. "No, no, no, James. The very first thing you need to do isn't to plan the wedding... it is to propose! I know Emmy secretly dreams of wearing a wedding dress, but I can't guarantee that she actually wants to go through the hassle of a ceremony right now. So you need to prepare a proposal first, then ask for her opinion. Ask her if she wants a wedding, and how she wants it done. That is the absolute safest way to handle this."
Listening to her, a flicker of genuine surprise crossed James's deep, dark eyes. He reevaluated his cousin, a faint trace of approval rising in his gaze. "I really didn't expect you to have such a delicate, thoughtful side."
Suddenly receiving praise from James, Abriella felt a surge of pride and chuckled smugly. Standing nearby, Will eagerly jumped in to back her up, looking at James with immense pride.
"Captain, my wife might seem careless and blunt on the outside, but she is incredibly thorough when it comes to things like this. If you want to know how to propose and sweep a girl off her feet, just let my wife give you some tips!"
Abriella immediately raised her hand, excitedly volunteering for the job. "Yes, yes, yes! James, I can help you set up the proposal venue!" Her eyes sparkled as her imagination ran wild. "I guarantee I will make it super dreamy and outrageously romantic! Then we can call all our friends over to hype up the atmosphere..."
"That won't be necessary," James cut off her wildly imaginative plans, his deep voice heavily laced with an unyielding, profound tenderness. "The proposal is something I will do myself. This is a matter strictly between the two of us. If Emmy nods her head and says she wants a wedding, I will let you all know."
Abriella paused, but didn't think much of it. She naturally assumed James wanted to speak with Sylvia about work. After all, Sylvia was now the head of AgriTech Ventures, and during Emmy's pregnancy, James had been stepping in to manage and oversee many of the core operations. Perhaps there had been a flaw in one of Sylvia's corporate decisions, and James needed to address it personally. Abriella agreed, pushed the door open, walked over to the sofa, and sent Sylvia out.
Sylvia stepped onto the balcony and closed the door behind her. Like Abriella, she assumed the Chairman wanted to ask about a critical project. She stopped in front of him, her expression perfectly professional and efficient. "Mr. Nelson, you asked to see me."
However, James did not speak right away. His deep gaze lingered on the distant scenery for a long moment before he finally turned his head to look at Sylvia. But the question he asked had absolutely nothing to do with work.
"Is there really no possibility left between you and Steve?"
