Divorce Failed! My Wife's Secret Identities Shock the World novel Chapter 1183

Nancy jolted awake, drenched in a cold sweat, the horrific images of being sliced apart still vivid in her mind.

As she pieced together the fragments of the dream, a sudden, chilling realization hit her.

Griffin, Cora...

The man who had stopped Maeve from killing her at the birthday banquet was actually Maeve's father from a past life.

She had always found it utterly bizarre that Maeve, who clearly hated her to the core, would risk a premature delivery to operate on her during a critical emergency.

The cause and effect of it all stemmed from their bound destiny.

If she died, Maeve died. If she lived, Maeve lived!

Nancy could barely suppress the manic excitement bubbling in her chest. All she had to do was die, and Maeve would be dragged down to the grave with her.

Ha! Interesting. This was simply too interesting.

Housekeeper Genesis and Housekeeper Paisley had slipped out at some point, leaving Nancy alone in the spacious hospital room. Fighting through the agonizing, continuous bursts of pain from her chest wound, she awkwardly climbed out of bed, threw on a coat, and left the room.

At that moment, Maeve was in her own suite, video calling Naomi Lowell, who was currently in Gotham.

"Since when does Gotham have a wealthy heiress named Leila Nichols?" Maeve asked. Though she hadn't spent a long time in Gotham, she knew the business circles reasonably well. She had never heard of a socialite by that name.

However, the surname 'Nichols' did stir up some old memories.

Naomi looked visibly annoyed on the screen. "She claims she's the cousin of the Cosmos Group's CEO."

Cosmos Group? Maeve's eyes lit up with sudden realization. "Nolan Nichols?"

Naomi shrugged. "Probably."

Naomi wasn't a Gotham local, so she wasn't entirely familiar with the landscape. The reason she looked so sour was entirely due to the grief this Leila woman had been giving her lately.

A few days ago, Titus Reed had taken Naomi out to dinner. Midway through the meal, Titus stepped away for a few minutes to take a client's call. An uninvited woman identifying herself as Leila Nichols had barged over, imperiously warning Naomi to stay away from Titus.

She claimed that the Reed family and the Nichols family were planning a marriage alliance, and that she, Leila, was Titus's official fiancée.

Maeve immediately leaped to her friend's defense. "Titus, did you get yourself a side piece?"

Titus deadpanned, "I have twenty dogs at home."

Maeve rolled her eyes. "You know what I mean. Did you do something to betray Naomi? Who is Leila Nichols?"

"I don't know her."

"So, is this marriage alliance thing real or not?"

"No."

Maeve wasn't about to let it go.

"Look, if our family goes bankrupt, just give me a heads-up. Do not go down the marriage alliance route."

"Your sister might not have much, but I've got plenty of money. I won't let my own brother marry a woman he doesn't love just for the sake of the family business."
