Divorce Failed! My Wife's Secret Identities Shock the World novel Chapter 1135

Whether it was sheer luck or the protective talisman Maeve gave him, Jasper miraculously survived the ordeal.

Though he escaped death, his right leg was severely broken, condemning him to a wheelchair for the foreseeable future.

Even with Maeve's custom-formulated miracle cure, he still needed a long period of strict rest and recovery.

Once out of danger, Jasper finally woke up. The very first words out of his mouth nearly gave Slade an aneurysm.

"The lawsuit is over. Isn't it time you kept your promise and officially cut ties with me? Oh, and don't forget to wire my legal fees."

Slade was so infuriated by Jasper's relentless obsession with money that he didn't know whether to laugh or scream.

"Do you even realize your leg is shattered?"

Jasper finally glanced down, noticing the bulky plaster cast encasing his right leg. It looked absolutely ridiculous.

"Who the hell did this cast? It's hideous."

Slade patted the hardened plaster gently.

"Maeve said you need to stay in a wheelchair for at least three months. You're coming back to Port Caspian with me. I'm taking care of you."

Jasper rolled his eyes.

"Stop joking. A spoiled billionaire like you would accidentally kill me before I ever recovered."

Ignoring the sarcasm, Slade's tone turned dead serious. "Why did you throw yourself in front of me?"

Jasper, who had been busy insulting his cast, suddenly froze. A flicker of panic crossed his eyes.

He quickly masked it with forced indifference.

"Don't flatter yourself. Why would I risk my life for you? I was just trying to save myself."

"Anyway, stop nagging and go get a doctor. I need to know when I can get the hell out of here."

He had always despised the sterile smell of hospitals and wanted to leave immediately.

Slade easily saw right through Jasper's panicked deflection.

Barton Grover, the heir to the Grover Group, had been involved in a devastating multi-car pileup while allegedly speeding under the influence.

He was rushed to the hospital in a deep coma.

The crash had been apocalyptic for him.

With severe, cascading organ failure, it was a miracle he was even breathing. Top specialists were entirely helpless against the extent of his injuries.

Barton needed immediate, high-risk surgery to survive, but the chances of him dying on the operating table were astronomical.

No surgeon dared to take the risk—crossing the Grover family with a fatal mistake was professional suicide.

But without the surgery, he was destined to rot slowly on life support.

Watching her golden child's life drain away, Faye Grover finally broke down, sobbing uncontrollably against her husband's shoulder.

Thatcher Grover was just as horrified by the sudden catastrophe.
