Skittles POV
Stinger and I had been pacing the floor till the sounds of the bikes came roaring down the driveway towards us.
“He’s here, Sis, our dad is actually here,” Stinger said softly in awe, as the bikes came to a stop, and we instantly recognised our dad’s bike.
We moved together, no, ready, set, go. We almost ran to him. As he kicked the side stand and removed his helmet, we were on him before he could take one step away from his bike. The group hug felt like I was complete, as if the missing part of the family had been found. We didn’t say a word, just held each other.
“Need to see the cops, baby doll.”
“Really, okay, I made a room in our cottage, you stay there for now.” I introduced Sprocket, and he took Dad down the hall to Storm and the police. I had been so focused on watching the driveway that I hadn’t noticed the police vehicles in the car park.
Stinger and I unloaded his bags; there was more here than I would expect him to have for a short stay. It was like he was staying longer. I hope so. We took his things to the cottage, placed them on the bed, then left and closed the door. It felt too much like invading his privacy to unpack them.
“Dad looks good. I have missed him,” Stinger said as we sat at the table talking, waiting for Sprocket to bring Dad to us.
“He does, other than some grey hair, and a bit more weight around his middle, he still looked like !
remembered him.”
“We have a lot of years to catch up on. Any idea who would have done this to mum, like I am not sad she’s gone, more relieved, but she was still our mother, and I wondered who else she had
pissed off.”
“There would be a long list of suspects, but she managed to make a lot of enemies. Only those who were bedding her were too blind to see what she was like. Dad wouldn’t be a suspect; if he wanted to do something to her, he could have done it years ago.”
We sat drinking juice and staring at nothing, both lost in our own memories.
“Would you be upset if I said I would like Dad to stay in the clubhouse? I don’t want to come here each time I want to see him.” Stinger broke the silence in a low voice.
“Why not here?” I searched his face for clues.
“Well, I..um… came by the other day, and um… you were….um busy in the lounge.” He blushed; my

brother never blushes.
“Oh, well, I guess that would be more than you expected. I won’t be upset, you need him more than I do, you have more memories about what happened.”
“You don’t mind?” He sounded shocked that I would be upset that the men wanted to be close; it was the way it should have been in the beginning, and I never thought to ask. I just took over and
assumed.
“Nope, let’s take his things inside.” We grabbed the bags and took them back, and were on the way to his room when Tempest came out of one of the rooms down the hall. I marvel at how well she gets around in her chair.
“Are they Bonkers bags?” She nodded to the bags we were carrying.
“Yeah.”
“Your old room, not that you stayed in it for more than two seconds. Next to Stinger.” Tempest didn’t wait for a response, just started to wheel herself away.
“Yeah, I don’t have a lot of stuff. I am still living in the clubhouse back home, packed it all, and Storm has agreed to make me a club member, even has some work set up ready for me to start when this stuff with your mother is dealt with. We are going to have to pack her stuff up at the old place and also make the funeral arrangements. Apparently, I am still listed as her next of kin. Go figure,” Dad said, scratching his beard.
“No, Stinger made sure everything that was ours was packed and brought here. What was at Mum’s place was all hers.”
“What about our wedding photos or the personal paperwork?”
“Dad, sorry to say this, but about a year after we left, Mum hosted a big bonfire party. She put everything to do with you, including your cut, into the fire. She burned everything. There’s nothing back there but her lies. You don’t need to go pack anything, let them keep it, or burn it,” Stinger said. I remembered that bonfire, but not what it really meant.
“Dam, she hated me that much for catching her out. She stole, lied and cheated, all her life, never did like being caught out.”
“Forget her stuff, Dad. If we have to have a funeral, get her collected and burned, and put her ashes in the rubbish dump, we don’t need her or a ceremony for her death. She doesn’t deserve it, so unless that club she was part of wants to do something, let them come and take her away. With their bikes gone, there’s nothing of any value left. She never worked a day in her life; the men who bedded her paid her bills. We weren’t even allowed a phone. We had one, but it was hidden, and we brought it ourselves. If we had money, and she found it, she took it, so no, there’s nothing of value or memorable that we want or need.” Stinger had a beer in his hand now, looked like he needed it.
“Why don’t you talk with Storm, and together contact the president of the club, and talk about what they might like? She might have some friends there.” I suggested that now I was calm and back to thinking straight, I am still high on Dad being here, not just a visit.
“Good idea, it involves this club’s turf, it should be done that way. My girl’s got brains on her shoulders. She must have inherited that from me.” Dad smirked and winked at me.
‘If you got the brains, how come you got stuck with Mum?” Stinger threw back.
“Ah, those hormones were raging. She was a looker and all the men wanted her, but she was with me for six months before she pulled the ‘I’m pregnant‘ card and had to claim her. There was no choice back then. After you were born, I had the DNA done to confirm it, before I totally committed. She was fine until she lost a baby after Skittles, and she became a different person.”
