After buying the tickets, the three of them went through the gates.
Stella said she was thirsty and wanted ice cream.
Naturally, Ivy wasn't going to buy her any. The lesson from last time was still fresh in her mind, so she opted to buy some premium bottled water instead.
She looked at her sister. "You stay here and wait with Stella. I'm going to go buy water. Don't wander off, okay?"
It was the weekend, and the amusement park was incredibly crowded.
If they weren't careful, they could easily get separated.
It wouldn't matter if anyone else got lost, but if Stella got lost, Ivy was absolutely certain Mr. Foster would kill her.
Hazel promised, "Don't worry, Ivy. Go ahead. I'll keep a close eye on Stella."
After her sister walked away, Hazel crouched down, looked at Stella, and probed tentatively.
"How old is your brother? Do you know if that lady who just left gets along well with your brother?"
Along the way, Stella had realized that the lady in front of her wasn't a bad person, and she looked a little like Ivy, both being very pretty.
She blinked her large eyes and answered earnestly:
"I don't have a brother. I only have a dad."
Hazel was startled. "You only have a dad? Then what is that lady's relationship with your dad?"
Stella watched Ivy's retreating back and answered with pure, childish innocence:
"She's the mommy my daddy found for me! But when we're outside, I can only call her Ivy, I'm not allowed to call her Mommy."
Hazel froze.
Her sister had actually married a divorced older man and become a stepmother?
But her sister was only twenty-two!
How could she marry a divorced man and act as a young nanny for someone else's child?
Hazel's chest tightened, and she felt so awful she wanted to cry.
Remembering something else, she quickly composed herself, grabbed Stella's hand, and asked:
"Does your dad treat Ivy well? How old is your dad?"
Stella tilted her head in thought, pouted her little lips, and said:
And the person who slapped Stella was none other than Summer Vance, the woman who constantly made her life miserable.
Patrick Sterling was standing right beside her.
Ivy rushed forward like a madwoman, ignoring everything else, and slapped Summer hard in return. She then pulled Stella tightly into her arms, her heart breaking.
"Stella, are you okay? Does it hurt?"
Stella burst into loud wails, half of her face instantly swelling up like a balloon.
Ivy was overwhelmed with guilt, holding her tightly to comfort her.
Recovering from the slap, Summer saw it was Ivy. Furious, she yanked Patrick's arm and shrieked:
"Patrick, she actually dared to hit me right in front of you! Hit her back!"
Patrick hadn't expected to run into Ivy here.
Wasn't her family completely broke? How did she have the money to come to a place like this?
He stepped forward, putting on a self-righteous act.
"Ivy, how could you hit Summer? Apologize to her right now."
