She hadn't forgotten the incident when Stephen Croix had nearly thrown all her belongings out onto the street to make room for Seraphina. And Seraphina had definitely made herself at home here since then. Even though Raelynn had lived in this house for seven years, it wasn't her home anymore.
Sebastian's eyes flickered slightly at her sharp retort, but he didn't take the bait. Whether he simply didn't care about her assumptions or just refused to discuss Seraphina, he kept his mouth shut.
They entered the living room. Mary was still on shift. Seeing Raelynn walk through the door, the housekeeper paused before beaming. "Madam, you're back!"
Raelynn corrected her immediately. "Just call me Raelynn. Sebastian and I are divorced."
Mary flushed with embarrassment and nervously glanced at Sebastian.
Sebastian ignored Raelynn's declaration. "Bring the first aid kit, please."
Mary eagerly scurried away to escape the suffocating tension.
Raelynn let out a heavy sigh and walked over to him. "Let me see your arm."
Even though his intervention had purely been a business transaction to secure a bargaining chip, he had still taken a brutal hit for her. Combined with the injuries he sustained from the fall earlier, the sheer physical toll had to be agonizing. And regardless of his motives, she couldn't deny that Lily was safe largely because of him. Credit where credit was due.
Sebastian wasn't surprised by her compliance. It was just who she was—sharp-tongued but soft-hearted. She had been exactly the same when they were kids.
He extended his arm. Mary returned with the medical kit.
Raelynn used scissors to carefully cut away the ruined fabric of his exorbitant shirt, exposing the jagged, bleeding laceration underneath. The sight alone was enough to make her stomach churn, but she pressed her lips together and began cleaning the wound in total silence.
Raelynn finished taping the bandage. "Don't get it wet. Your blood doesn't clot properly, so you need to be careful with it."
Sebastian didn't answer. He took the envelope and pulled out the divorce agreement from seven years ago.
He read through the clauses line by line. The incredibly cruel, exploitative terms didn't spark an ounce of surprise in him. The Croix family never left themselves vulnerable to gold diggers; their contracts were designed to completely obliterate the other party. The terms dictated that Raelynn had to serve the family's every whim, and upon leaving, she would be compensated with a meager half-million dollars.
For a titan like the Croix family, half a million dollars was absolute pocket change. It wouldn't even cover half a month's standard living expenses for any single branch of the family.
He flipped to the last page. There, sitting starkly on the paper, was his own signature—signed who knows when.

The readers' comments on the novel: Boss, Your Wife Signed the Divorce Agreement Before the Wedding
Sebastian, the man of few words.... needs to find all the words! Needs to fight for her! On note, seven years seems like a long time for this master plan (which I am sure goes back much farther). Rereading this novel, and it seems like everything has played out in a 5-8 month time span. And I feel like all Sebastian's doings/ plan have not been revealed. I hope we get to see the whole picture and have the resolutions we hope. But seven years of mistreatment, I just don't see Raelynn fully coming back. If these was 2-3 years, maybe, and I know it changes some characters around, but it would still work. Rooting for them!...
Literally on edge!...
No, no, no! Sebastian needs to nip the Zella situation and win Raelynn back! Also, Leo, he is a wildcard for Sebastian's master plan... Sebastian- we know you know, what we know, win your family back!...
I thought now Sebastian and Raelynn will be together now that seraphina is not but you are not letting them to be. Two new female around Sebastian 😭...
I think Ian is sly. He is not what he seems. Sebastian loves Raelyn and they have a daughter together. Besides he has no family to even take care of him. I feel Raelyn should realise that Sebastian is only her true love and go back to him....
The croix family is evil...
