Raelynn wished it was a hallucination. She wished she could open her eyes and see Lily smiling up at her, hugging her, babbling about something funny that happened at kindergarten.

She was frantic.

Ian and Sebastian had silently coordinated their movements, each rushing toward the person closest to them. Ian pulled Raelynn—who was completely limp from whatever drug she'd been given—away from the dangerous edge of the roof.

Now, he could barely hold her back.

Raelynn had watched the whole thing unfold right before her eyes.

To keep herself from falling, Seraphina had tossed Lily off the roof like a piece of garbage.

And Sebastian had reacted with lightning speed.

Taking two massive strides, knowing he couldn't catch her from the roof since she was already falling, he leaped over the edge, grabbing the plummeting child and pulling her into his chest. Mid-air, he twisted his body, clutching the tiny figure tightly.

With his back facing the ground, he curled up, using both hands to protect the child's head, entirely cocooning her in his embrace.

On the second-floor open terrace below, she saw a massive Fire Department Air Cushion that had been set up at some point.

The man and child had landed on it right as she rushed over.

A crowd surged below them.

Leo was at the very front.
