"So I'm ungrateful. What are you going to do about it?" She tipped her head back, meeting his gaze. "If you can't stand it, then divorce me."
Jarred's expression shifted.
Those eyes that usually held a hint of cynical amusement were now as dark as a bottomless abyss.
He didn't speak.
He just stared at her, looking at her for a long time.
Then he opened his mouth, his voice turning ice-cold.
"From now on, you're staying at Sterling Manor," he stated. "Listen to Celeste's arrangements. Whatever she tells you to do, you do it, until Grandmother forgives you."
The color drained entirely from Sienna's face.
She violently shook off his hand and turned toward the staircase.
She was done playing this game.
She couldn't stand another second in this suffocating, cannibalistic place.
Watching her stubborn, resolute figure walk away, Jarred's temples throbbed violently.
He didn't chase after her; he simply spoke coldly, his voice echoing down the corridor.
"Guards." His gaze was predatory and dark. "Lock every door. Don't even let a fly out of this house."
The men in black stationed at the top of the stairs immediately responded, stepping forward with long strides to block Sienna's path.
A moment later, the heavy sound of locks clicking into place echoed from downstairs. Every exit was completely sealed.
Sienna froze in place. Staring at the massive guards looming before her, a surge of utter desperation rushed from the soles of her feet to her head.
"Jarred! You bastard!" She trembled with rage, practically screaming. "Go to hell!"
The man turned a deaf ear, merely saying in a frigid tone, "Keep an eye on her. If she escapes, I'll hold every single one of you responsible."
Only after giving the order did he look back at Sienna, his voice leaving no room for argument. "I'll come get you once Grandmother has forgiven you."
As he passed by Celeste, he ordered in a low voice, "Teach her a good lesson."
Celeste smiled and nodded. "Don't worry, I'll definitely take good care of her."
That smile looked piercingly malicious in Sienna's eyes.
Jarred didn't spare Sienna another glance before turning and striding away.
