Begging for a Second Chance (Sienna Sloan and Jarred Sterling) novel Chapter 52

A flash of panic crossed her eyes as she pointed an angry finger at Sienna. "You dare snatch my cane? Give it back, you little bitch!"

Sienna's face remained utterly blank. "Age without grace is just pathetic. And you're far more pathetic than I could ever be."

"Shut your mouth!" Furious, the older woman grabbed a nearby vase and hurled it straight at Sienna.

Watching her vicious display, Sienna turned without a word, walked into the kitchen, grabbed the heavy meat cleaver from the cutting board, and brought it down.

With a sharp crack, the rosewood cane was brutally chopped in half.

The older woman slumped completely to the floor, her body trembling violently. "Sienna Sloan, you have no respect for your elders! This is elder abuse! I'm pressing charges!"

Sienna emerged from the kitchen and tossed the severed pieces of the cane at her feet.

"The dead deserve respect. You couldn't even keep your mouth shut about my late grandfather. Why the hell should I respect a so-called elder like you?"

The older woman was struck speechless.

Her body suddenly tipped backward, her breathing turning jagged and rapid as she clutched her chest, looking exactly as if she were having a heart attack.

Sienna watched her writhe in twisted agony, her complexion draining of color. Part of her desperately wanted to turn a blind eye.

But that last shred of humanity in her heart ultimately made her take a step forward.

Yet the moment she moved, the medical monitor on the older woman's wrist triggered a blaring alarm.

The next second, two massive bodyguards stormed in through the door.

Seeing the matriarch collapsed on the floor, the blood drained from their faces.

"Madam!"

One of them immediately rushed over to help her up, producing a pill and feeding it to her.

The other spotted Sienna standing in the corner and lunged, pinning her down.

"Let me go!"
