Against Cruelty, She Grew Strong (by Anastasia Glover) novel Chapter 663

Chapter 663 The Kidnapping Trap Of Lund Family

Liam’s look was chilling.

Sherry’s heart dropped, her scalp prickling with unease.

He forced down his frustration, “Sherry—can’t you be a little more sensible? Just focus on the pregnancy. Once you deliver safely, I’ll take care of the rest.”

Sherry hung her head, saying nothing.

She’d wanted to pull him out of this mess.

If he’d leave this world behind, he could protect himself.

For the baby’s sake, she’d softened.

But he didn’t appreciate it at all.

Liam restarted the car and took her home.

He doled out a few more soothing words.

“Call me if anything comes up. Be good, alright?”

Sherry curled up on the couch, silent.

“I’ve got things to do. I’ll head out now. Don’t forget to drink your supplements.”

He opened the door to leave—but Sherry called after him, “Liam—will you still marry me again?”

“Of course,” he said without hesitating.

“Good. That’s your promise.”

After the door closed behind him,

Sherry dialed Tatiana again.

“Tatiana—let’s make one more bet. If you win this round, I’ll tell you.”

The other end asked, “Bet on what?”

“Bet… on who he ends up marrying.”

“Deal.”

At the Lund Group headquarters,

everyone was on edge.

Waiting for today’s shareholders’ meeting.

This meeting would decide the company’s president—Lucas or John.

Backroom bets were already being placed.

“It’s obviously Lucas—he’s the legitimate successor!”

“Please—what era is this? Still going on about birthright? John’s been running the show way longer. And the will clearly leaves the company to him.”

“The will doesn’t matter—it’s all about the shares. Whoever holds more shares is the real owner. Our opinions don’t count.”

“No question—John holds the most shares.”

“Not so fast. I heard through the grapevine that someone’s been quietly buying up shares—a significant chunk too. Could it be Lucas?”

The buzz was everywhere. Everyone was watching.

The lower-level employees didn’t really care who was in charge—they were just curious.

But the upper management was sweating. They’d all been bought out by John, especially a few who’d helped him cook the books.

If the leadership changed, their seats would be on the line.

The tension was palpable.

Tammy watched the makeup artist work on Lucas, hesitant, “Do you really have to go?”

“Yes. I have to.”

She turned to Lucas, “Stop the car.”

“What? Why?”

“I don’t know—bad feeling. Just stop.”

Lucas trusted her completely. He told the driver to pull over.

The moment they stopped, Tammy grabbed him and yanked him toward the busy streets.

Almost right after their car stopped, the cars behind them pulled over too.

Several people jumped out and chased after them.

Tammy caught a glimpse.

Lucas realized something was wrong.

“But John doesn’t have any men left to use—I’m watching all of his. Who’s helping him?”

Tammy pulled him through the crowd. “You think he’s the only one who wants you gone?”

Lucas fell silent.

He honestly couldn’t think of anyone else.

“Stop thinking. Follow me—they’ve got numbers. Let’s split them up.”

Tammy could fight, but she wasn’t stupid.

Taking on a group would be exhausting and dangerous—especially with a sick guy in tow.

If something happened to him, it was over.
