Against Cruelty, She Grew Strong (by Anastasia Glover) novel Chapter 662

Chapter 662 Sherry’s Choice

Liam saw her spiraling. His frown deepened, a touch of impatience creeping into his voice, “Sherry, calm down. You need rest. Don’t upset the baby.”

More of those hollow, empty reassurances.

Sherry’s heart went cold—all the way down.

She stopped looking at him. She slumped back onto the bed, pulling the blanket up over her head, her voice muffled, “I’m tired. Leave me alone.”

Liam stood there for a few seconds, said nothing, and walked out.

The door clicked shut. Sherry sat up instantly—her eyes dry now.

Late that night, when the hospital halls were empty, Sherry slipped out of her room in her hospital gown.

She pushed open the door to Tatiana’s room.

Tatiana was propped against the headboard reading—a soft yellow lamp lighting her calm profile. She didn’t seem surprised.

She didn’t even look up. Just turned a page and said, “Did you make your choice?”

Sherry closed the door and walked to the bedside. Gone was the arrogance and bluffing from before. Her face was eerily calm, with a hint of desperate finality.

“Yes, I did.”

Tatiana paused, closed her book, and finally looked up—her eyes assessing.

Sherry leaned in, lowering her voice, eyes locked on Tatiana’s, “I need money. Enough to live comfortably for the rest of my life and disappear. And I need to make sure the Langstroms won’t come after me. I want to keep this baby.”

If she had the child, the Langstroms would never let her have it. She’d need help to take it away.

And looking around, it seemed like only Boss Su could pull that off.

Tatiana didn’t say yes or no. She just asked, “What can you give me in return?”

Sherry wasn’t dumb. She’d figured it out by now, “You don’t love Liam. You have another agenda.”

The room went quiet, just the soft hum of the air conditioner.

Tatiana tapped her fingers lightly on the book cover, “I want to know one thing.”

“What?”

Sherry let out a breath. She wasn’t scared of what Tatiana wanted—she was scared she wanted nothing at all.

“I want to know… Liam’s biggest secret.”

Sherry’s pupils shrank. Her heart raced.

Tatiana could already see the answer on her face.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Sherry recovered quickly, denying it.

“Yes, you do.”

“No, I don’t!”

Tatiana opened her book again.

“If you are not willing to tell me, then you can go.”

“Tatiana! Name another condition!”

“This is the only one I care about. It’s all I want.”

He said gently, “You matter more.”

But that gentleness didn’t reach his eyes.

There was a hint of impatience underneath.

Tatiana didn’t need to be coddled. She always understood him. Being with her didn’t require tiptoeing or careful flattery.

Even when he’d just said he had work and couldn’t pick her up, she didn’t press—she just told him to focus on work.

But Sherry was different. She’d use the baby to get her way.

He had no choice but to give in.

Sherry had no idea. She thought he was just as torn as she was—maybe even leaning toward her.

With that thought, she tested the waters carefully, “Liam, I want to go abroad. The medical care is better there. Let’s have the baby overseas?”

“Domestic care is perfectly good. I’ll find you the best hospital and doctors. Don’t worry.”

“But I want to go.”

“Be reasonable. Your current condition isn’t stable enough for long travel.”

“Liam—I only have this one wish. Can’t you grant it?”

Liam’s face showed a flash of annoyance, “Pick something else. You know I can’t leave the country because of my work.”

Sherry’s words spilled out before she could stop herself, “Then can’t you just quit your job?”

That was the last straw. Liam’s expression darkened, his voice tight. “Sherry—you know how much I’ve invested in my career. I’m on the rise. You want me to throw that all away!”
