My mother watched his face with utmost respect and admiration because he was the one suggesting it himself.

I was still slightly worried about him.

I mean, his wolf could be really dangerous, and I wasn’t sure how his wolf felt about his mother.

“But do you think she’s the type of woman who would willingly take the herbs? She won’t,” Yuvonne hissed, grinding her teeth and folding her arms across her chest as she remembered how that woman had practically compelled her to make stupid decisions.

Then, when she no longer wanted to play her game, Lady Eugenia decided she was better off dead.

“They said that when she asks, we’re not supposed to lie. I can tell her something that isn’t a lie but isn’t the full truth either.”

Knowing Baxter, of course I expected that from him.

Everyone’s eyes were on him, and I couldn’t help noticing how broad his shoulders were and how sexy he looked sitting in that chair.

Even the thought made me chuckle to myself.

I guess he noticed because his eyes flickered for a brief second, then squeezed shut as if he were remembering something before he looked back at everyone.

“Yeah, that is what they’re doing. Sawyer claims that he’ll kill the monster and the sickness will go away, which we now know is exactly what will happen once the monster dies and the curse ends,” Ron explained, agreeing with Baxter.

“Well then, who’s going to tell Sawyer which monster he’s killing?” Baxter asked very calmly, his voice deep, sexy, yet somehow creepy.

For a second, nobody moved.
