I had no idea what was going to happen.

But Sawyer had left, leaving Mr. Green behind to watch me.

"Come on, drink some of this," he urged, holding out a glass of fresh orange juice.

"Don't act like you care," I snapped, frowning at him.

"If you did, you'd unchain me."

I looked him straight in the eye.

How could he forget about me?

Sure, we didn't have a relationship, but let's not forget we had been sleeping together for the past year, ever since Sawyer fell into a coma.

I had trusted only Mr. Green.

He was the one closest to Sawyer.

Sawyer had told him everything about my father.

Where he was. Where his stamp was.

Where the documents were. Where the keys were.

"Nina, please. You know how dangerous he is. Don't make me do something that'll get me into trouble. I have children at home. My wife is pregnant."

"Look at me," he pleaded, gently lifting my chin.

"What do you want me to do?"

I could tell he still remembered the moments we had shared.

Whenever he came to work, we would end up in bed together.

In his mind, it was as though we were married.

For me, though, I wanted Sawyer back.

But now that Baxter had woken up, and I had realized how insane he was, I regretted not getting rid of him when I had the chance.

He should have died.

I didn't love him enough to fucking lose my blood for him.

And his claims that I was lucky enough, or special enough, to be spared were complete bullshit.

If he truly cared about me, he wouldn't hurt me.

He wouldn't choose Madeline over me.

I wondered if he drank from her the way he drank from me.

"I want you to free me. Or at least tell me where my father is. Is he okay? Is he dead?" I asked, sniffling.

"He's fine. Your father is in a safe place. I know everything about it, but I can't help you. You know how dangerous he is. He gives me the creeps," Green replied.

I rolled my eyes internally.

"That fucking Lycan was caught. Baxter and Daniel tricked him. They exposed him in front of a huge crowd and forced him to transform. Now everybody knows Sawyer doesn't belong here. He's behind bars."

The news hit me like everything I had been waiting to hear ever since I had been chained here.

A smile spread across my face as he removed the last chain.

The moment he finished, I threw myself into his arms like someone rescued from a nightmare.

He caught me effortlessly.

"Oh, my baby. Are you okay?" he asked, cupping my cheek.

"I will be once you get me away from here," I replied.

He smiled and carried me in his arms.

"Of course. I'll get you help, and then I'll reunite you with your father," he promised as he carried me out of the room.

I was no longer a prisoner.

Neither was my father.

"No," I said shakily.

"Take me to my father." I insisted.,

"But you've lost a lot of blood," he protested, still carrying me as he hurried out of the mansion.

"No. No, no. Please take me to my father. Once I see him, I'll go and get treated. Please."

He stopped beside his car, still holding me in his arms.

After a brief hesitation, he finally gave in.

He placed me in the passenger seat, buckled me in, then hurried around to the driver's side.
