Accidentally Pregnant By My Alpha Best friends (Madeline) novel Chapter 752

Baxter:

"Sir, she is being very difficult."

Daniel spoke over the phone while I got ready for the big event, standing in front of a tall mirror as I adjusted my coat and sleeves.

People moved around me, helping me get dressed for the event.

Today, I was taking charge of the human world as its President.

"Be gentle with her. It seems like she's been through a lot," I said, my jaw clenching as I stared at my reflection.

"Well, I've asked her to wear the dress. Hopefully she'll come out of the bathroom soon. Then I'll tell her about the event. I'll bring her there, don't worry," Daniel assured me before ending the call.

I trusted him.

It was just that I felt incredibly strange.

Her room was directly above mine.

Sometimes, when she paced heavily, I could hear her footsteps from below.

With every step she took, my heart pounded harder.

It made no sense to me.

I knew she wasn't mine.

She had never been only mine.

I'd learned enough over the last few hours to understand that.

At some point, she had been married to both Sawyer and me.

But now that all of that had happened, I wanted to keep her by my side.

She had always been so eager to marry a President.

Now she was going to live as a President's wife.

I hadn't seen her once.

I didn't want to.

With everything that had happened and everything I'd found out, I was angry.

"Baxter, are you ready?"

Livia walked in, smiling as she checked on me.

She wore a beautiful, form-fitting pink dress and gave me an approving nod as she looked at me over.

"Well? Don't I look like the President?" I asked, placing my hands on my waist as I pushed my coat back.

"Better than him," Livia remarked.

I shot her a sideways glance before rolling my eyes.

"Look, I wanted to ask you something," she said awkwardly, walking toward me.

I gestured for everyone else to leave.

"What is it?" I asked.

"I think Daniel is upset with me," she admitted.

The moment those words left her mouth, I immediately understood what was going on.

The woman who had once believed the man standing before her was nothing more than a friend, who had claimed she wouldn't care if she lost him, was finally realizing what it felt like to lose someone she might have loved all along.

I'd seen it in Livia's eyes the moment Daniel stepped away from her and stopped hovering around her the way he used to.

The desire in her eyes to get his attention only grew stronger.

While I was getting dressed, I heard one of the guards say that I was going to have a lot of admirers now.

However, it didn't affect me.

I was a single man whose wife didn't want him.

She wanted to go back to her husband. Her other husband.

So what was stopping me?

As I finished my speech, my eyes briefly lifted, and for a second, it felt like my entire world froze.

On the balcony stood the most beautiful woman I had ever seen.

My heart skipped a beat like it hadn't since I woke up in the human world.

Her hourglass figure was unmistakable.

The sun shone behind her before disappearing behind the clouds.

Her chocolate-brown hair slowly flowed in the wind.

Her green eyes peeked through her long eyelashes.

Her soft, pouty lips made her look even more attractive.

I froze so completely that one of the guards had to step forward and touch the back of my hand, making me realize everyone had followed my gaze and was staring at the beauty on the balcony.

I looked back at the crowd, and jealousy hit me like never before.

That woman was supposed to be Madeline.

Why the fuck was anyone looking at her?

More importantly, why the fuck couldn't I look away from her?
