A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 965

Darian's expression stiffened.

"Or is it just too inconvenient to investigate?" Tanya pressed relentlessly. "Or maybe, you already know exactly who did it, but it's just too inconvenient to punish them?"

Darian's brow furrowed into a deep scowl. Did he know who leaked it? Deep down... he had a pretty good idea.

"Actually, it makes perfect sense," Tanya continued coolly. "With a circle this small, anyone with half a brain could guess."

He said nothing.

"It was Yulisa, wasn't it?"

"No, it wasn't her!" Darian fired back without a second of hesitation. His immediate, fierce defense of Yulisa spoke volumes. His blind faith in her far surpassed whatever misplaced trust Fairfax had once placed in Brinley.

Tanya stared at him in cold, piercing silence, making Darian's chest tighten with an inexplicable dread.

Taking a deep breath, he tried to reason with her. "It really wasn't her. She wouldn't do something like that. Actually... right now, she's trying to help us." He paused, looking at Tanya earnestly. He desperately wanted her to understand that Yulisa wasn't the villain she imagined.

Hearing this, Tanya almost burst out laughing at the sheer absurdity. "Help us?" If Yulisa hadn't actively schemed against her in the past, Tanya might have almost believed him.

"You shouldn't be so paranoid about her," Darian sighed. "We grew up together. I know exactly what kind of person she is. I know you're probably thinking of Brinley Seabrook right now, but Brinley doesn't even come close to comparing to Yulisa!"

"Well, if you put it like that, I guess I can't really say a bad word about her, can I?" Tanya deadpanned.

"Youโ€”"

"Then enlighten me. Who is responsible for having me dragged through the mud in front of the entire city?"

Darian fell completely silent. Her sharp interrogation hit its mark perfectly. It was painfully obvious that he knew exactly who had orchestrated the leak.

"I just want to leave!" Tanya stated flatly.

"You know that's impossible!"

"Then we have nothing left to discuss."

Since he was going to be this stubborn, there was no point in talking. Naturally, there was nothing more to say!

Looking at her icy detachment, Darian felt a suffocating knot in his throat. Just as he was racking his brain for a way to pacify her, his phone buzzed. It was Yulisa.

Even from a glance, Tanya easily caught the name flashing across his screen.

Darian instinctively glanced at Tanya, but his eyes held zero guilt. In his mind, he probably didn't feel he was doing anything wrong to Tanya at all. Seeing his unapologetic gaze, Tanya felt a flicker of genuine surprise! It confirmed what she had suspected: Darian was far more shameless than Fairfax had ever been.
