Rowena was dizzy with fury. "I never imagined he would pull a stunt like this," she defended herself.

"Hmph!" Eleanor scoffed at her excuse.

Rowena practically stormed out of the main estate. Yulisa was waiting outside, her face pale and anxious. "Any news? Did they track him down?"
Looking at the younger woman's desperate eyes, Rowena's heart softened slightly. She shook her head. "No."
Yulisa's shoulders slumped, the light draining from her eyes. "Nothing? How could he..."
Her voice cracked, tears welling up. She rarely cried, but the crushing weight of abandonment was too much to bear. Her nose stung, and a sob caught in her throat.
