"Why do you think Yulisa even entered the picture?"

"Because of your family. That is the root of everything!!"

The moment the Lynn elders found out about Tanya, Yulisa was suddenly brought back into the fold. They orchestrated the entire thing.

Every word she spoke felt like a knife twisting in Darian's gut.

"So just let me go, okay?" Tanya said tiredly.

"No."

"They didn't even want the baby! What makes you think we have any kind of future?"

Tanya saw the reality of their situation with crystal clarity. The gap between them was insurmountable. Darian's stubborn refusal to let go was entirely pointless.

At the mention of the baby, Darian's face hardened.

He had agonized over his family's callousness toward their unborn child for weeks. Neither his mother nor his grandparents had been willing to compromise, even when they found out Tanya was pregnant.

It broke his heart.

He took a deep breath. "I will handle them. You don't need to worry about it."

"You couldn't handle them when I was carrying your child. What makes you think you can handle them now?"

In an upscale cafe, Rowena slammed her coffee cup onto the table, her face livid. "If those two old fools hadn't opposed you and Darian in the first place, none of this would have happened! Now Tanya is back, and what are we supposed to do?"

She blamed her in-laws, Patrick and Eleanor. If they had just let Darian marry Yulisa right away, Tanya wouldn't even be a footnote in their lives.

Now the trash had been dragged back in.

In Rowena's eyes, no matter how flawed Yulisa was, she was a thousand times better than Tanya. Besides, Yulisa's reputation had only been ruined because of Darian to begin with.

Yulisa's eyes welled with tears. It was the first time she had looked so genuinely defeated in front of Rowena.

"I don't think there's any hope left for Darian and me," Yulisa choked out, her voice thick with heartbreak.

She had abandoned all her pride, practically throwing herself at Darian, only to be utterly humiliated by him. The sting of his rejection still burned.

Rowena patted her hand sympathetically. "Nonsense. None of us will ever accept that Tanya girl."
