Yardley chuckled darkly at her words. "You can be surprisingly perceptive sometimes."
She knew he would never let her go. Hearing it confirmed made her stomach drop.
"Then... can you at least not kill him?"
She had heard his plans. She was terrified.
"He's been crossing me at every turn," Yardley replied flatly.
He didn't say no directly, but it was a clear rejection. This was the difference between possession and love. If Yardley actually loved her, he wouldn't dream of hurting her family. Yet here he was, completely ignoring her pleas.
Susanna squeezed her eyes shut in agony.
"I've looked into it," Yardley continued. "Your family treats you like garbage. Fairfax is no exception."
Everyone claimed Fairfax was the best of the Yelchins to her, but Yardley wasn't impressed. She was the daughter of a wealthy family, yet she lived like a shadow. Her life was miserable compared to her sister, Xenia. To Yardley, a family like that wasn't worth a second thought.
But his woman was too soft-hearted. Despite everything they put her through, she didn't hold a grudge. Not like his own sister, who fought back like a tiger at the slightest grievance. Come to think of it, Starla's temperament wasn't so bad either. At least she knew how to protect herself.
Susanna, on the other hand, clung to the smallest scraps of kindness and let them dictate her life.
"Shut up!" she snapped. She couldn't bear to hear another word from him.
As they neared Yoran airspace, he finally broke the silence. "When we get back, stay away from Herbert. He's incredibly cunning."
Herbert had already managed to win her over once, and Fairfax was legitimately worried. Starla's heart was pure. If Herbert used his manipulative tactics on her, who knew what would happen?
Hearing his warning, Starla let out a sharp, mocking laugh. "What gives you the right to say that?"
Stay away from Herbert? Did Fairfax still think he had some claim over her? He was the absolute last person who should be giving her advice.
Fairfax winced, the pain in his chest tightening. "I know nothing I say matters to you anymore, but I hope you realize what kind of man Herbert truly is." He wanted her to see Herbert for the monster he was.
"I haven't fully figured out what kind of man he is," Starla replied coolly.

"You're a failure as a husband and coward as a Man" This is what i want to say in Fairfax hahaha you dont deserved a wife if you cant protect her...
Hahaha This plot of story i hate about, choosing another girl instead of your own wife is something unreal, you didnt considered your wife feeling, you didnt even trust her and later on you will say sorry?? Was sorry will fixed everything you've done? Was sorry fixed her heart? it was unfair for your wife, you must choose your wife whatever it is. You know your wife well more than anyone else and the only person she should lean on was the person who pushes her away...
