A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 1056

He couldn't muster a single ounce of sympathy for Fairfax's supposed concern for Susanna!

Amos left.

Now alone, Fairfax took a deep, shuddering drag of his cigarette.

A dark, unshakable gloom settled over his features.

...

The moment Amos returned to the villa, Yvonne cornered him.

Seeing she wasn't with Starla, Amos asked, "Where is Fairfaxโ€™s wife?!"

"Starla? I don't think you can call her that anymore."

Fairfax had made his bed. Starla definitely wouldn't want anything to do with him after this. So the affectionate title needed to be dropped immediately.

"Wait, what... are you taking his side now? You won't even acknowledge her?" Amos asked, confused.

"He's about to lose her! She won't appreciate us calling her that anymore."

Amos paused.

He understood. So Fairfax had truly made up his mind. He was trading her for his sister.

"Did he really decide that?" Yvonne asked, looking at Amos in disbelief.

Even though Starla had already broken the news.

She still couldn't quite wrap her head around it.

After all, they had all seen how much Starla supposedly meant to Fairfax.

A man who would lay down his life for a woman shouldn't be the one forcing her to lose.

But when Starla said she had 'won' the bet...

Yvonne's heart broke for her. She just couldn't believe Fairfax could be so cold.

"He even asked me to take her to Yoran Country. What the hell is he thinking!" Amos ranted.

He had already switched to respectfully addressing her by her surname.

Not because Fairfax had abandoned her.

But out of respect for her!

Under these circumstances, no woman would want a title tying her to the man who betrayed her.

"Don't you dare go!"

And finalized it.

Amos had run out of words to describe his supposed friend.

"Actually... maybe you should go?"

"Huh? No, honey! I'm not that kind of guy."

Amos panicked.

Was this a test?

Because she didn't need to test him. He wasn't that kind of monster, and after living together for years, shouldn't she know that?

Amos stared at her nervously.

Yvonne rolled her eyes at him. "What are you thinking? Do you think I'd suspect you?"

She scoffed, instantly reading his mind.

Why would she need to test his loyalty over Starla's situation?

If he were that terrible, she would have dumped him ages ago!

"Then what's with the sudden change of heart?"
