Chapter 209 

I count down on my fingers and spin around to pull the doors open after he waves the fob over the knobs. He tosses in a smoke bomb and we both pull up our masks over our mouths, go in first and clear the family room and the library while he takes the tea room. I move toward him and we both head into the dining area. 

There at the head of the table is the vampire king. I turn around to find Jesse standing behind us. I take a couple of steps toward her with my gun aimed at her chest. She knows this thing will blow a hole through her faster than her little gun can inflict any real damage. 

“Hey,” she greets me nonchalantly 

“You all better?” I ask. She flips me off 

“So, you’re the infamous Wolf Bait, she sighs. Tve heard all about you. From your expertise to your tragic transformation,” 

“It’s weird meeting like this, right? Baby sister,” I laugh 

“What?” both Kings behind me blurt out simultaneously. 

“How did you find out?” She lowers her gun and shrugs. 

I killed the Falcon. I’ve learned a lot about our family tree,” 

“I hated him,” she smirks. “It looks like we’ve come to an impasse. Perry. I can’t let you kill him,” she rubs her bald head and antoves down to her neck looking as stressed as I feel. “You look just like that asshole. I don’t know how I missed it the last time we saw each other,” 

“I spoke to him just before coming over. He seems cool with it,” 

Her red predatory eyes search mine for the truth before she glances back at her King. She groans and pulls out her phone. 

“What are you doing, Jesse!” the Vampire King demands. 

Jesse speaks into the phone so fast that I can’t make out what she said. Her eyes snap to me and then she hangs up and lowers her phone. We stare at one another for a moment before she bows her head to allow me to continue whatever I came here to do. 

“What did he say?” 

“You’ve been promoted. Since you forced yourself in, you skipped four whole ranks and fell right into leading specialist. I am a guardian. I am to watch over whoever takes his place,” 

“Jesse!” the Vampire King growls. 

“She’s in Magique, but if it’s okay with you. I’d like to know more about you before you leave.” 

“Why?” she looks me over with contempt. 

“We’re sisters 

“We were born sisters, Perry, But death did us part some time ago and I don’t do sentiment,” 

“How old were you when you were turned?” 

“I don’t want to see you kill him. If we ever meet again, we’ll talk then, she tucks her gun away and starts for the door. “I’m sorry about the cleaning lady. She shouldn’t have gotten in the way. If I were you, I’d kill that little girl.”

I can’t bring myself to say anything else as she leaves my house. The sound of one of the cars outside fades as I turn around to face my King. He looks back at me sympathetically before turning his attention to the vampire. 

“What the fuck, Bart?” he asks him. 

“That’s my line, boy,” he growls. 

“What the fuck are you doing in my house?” I demand. 

“You,” he points at me. “You fucking destroy everything.” 

“Okay,” I shrug. “So, what? You think you can walk in here and stop me? What was the move? You’d come in here do what you did and then what?” he stands there staring between us. “You killed Valentina?” 

1 jump when Valentina comes out of nowhere with her little speech device in hand. She usually hides it and since I know sign, she rarely uses it around me. 

“My lady. You’re home.” 

“Who died?” I ask looking back at her. 

“Emily and Olive,” she bows. 

“Okay, well you still killed people in my house!” I shout at him, but if I’m being honest, I am very relieved. I’m attached to 

her. 

That hybrid is going to destroy everything I’ve built. This women supporting women is going to end badly for you all. We’d be burning- 

Valentina and I both jump when the King fires. The bullet lodges itself in the vampire’s throat and the same thing that happened to all the other vampires he did that to, happens to him. I look up at the King who lets out a heavy sigh. 

“Turns out I only like when you go off all bond villain,” he shrugs. 

“Where is everyone?” I ask Valentina. 

“With the holidays upon us, the Prince Beta allowed everyone to go home,” she explains. 

“What the fuck is that outside?” James and Silas barge in through the front doors. 

“We had a breech,” the King and I growl in unison. The two of them take a step back. 

“Two Lycans are dead and Jordan is here somewhere trying to protect the kid and the twins alone. There was a whole mini army of formers waiting outside. Jonas had to shoot people in the throat,” 

“Got to,” he clarifies. 

“What the fuck, you guys?” 

“It’s about to be Christmas, Perry, Jordan and the twins are going back to Cliffside in the morning. I didn’t see the harm in letting anyone go. I didn’t think vampires would show up, Silas throws his hands up exasperated. “Something happened,” 

Yeah, two Lycans died,” the King scoffs. 

“Annie found her fated, James informs us. The King’s attention snaps to him. “There was an altercation between her and a girl in the Luna’s circle so she went back to her dorm. Her mate was in the middle of doing something unsavory with one of her roommates. She walked in. They made a connection and she killed everyone in the dormitory before her mate was able to subdue her. Tactually came back for bail money and to call you,”

Chapter 209 

“Who is it?” I ask. He grims and keeps his eyes on me. 

“Ace Savage,” 

“Fuck. I just wanted a couple of days to clear my fucking head, pull my mask off and throw it on the couch. “I just wanted to put up my Hello Kitty toys and maybe play some games and do some weird shit with my mate, but no! How many girls are dead and how many of them were Lamas from other packs? 

“None. Annie stays with the rogue girls. The packs voted against Lycans ranked higher than omegas staying in the main house. She’s in a villa with four other girls. They all had their own room, James explains. 

“Okay, that’s good. She’s not going to be tried too harshly for killing rogues. I’m going to call my lawyers and have them come over here immediately. How much is her bail?” 

“Two hundred thousand.” Silas whispers. The King presses his lips together when I cringe. 

“Are you in my G–wagon?” I ask James. He nods. 

“Money’s in there. Go get her and come right back. Fll clean things up here,” I turn to face the King. “You should go with 

him 

“Silas-” 

“I got it, Silas stops him before he can say anything else. The two of them leave as I look back at the bodies. I take my phone out and snap some pictures of the vampire King to send to Lilith I caption it Merry Christmas bloodsucker. 

“Let’s start with gathering the bodied outside. Once the sun comes up they’re all going to go up in flames. We don’t want them on the lawn. They leave a mark on the floor, 

“Starting with this one, my lady?” Valentina asks. 

“No, this one is probably going to be stuffed and hung up in the vampire girl’s bedroom when she comes for it, I shake my head. She grins for the first time ever. Her silent laugh is now my favorite thing. I’m going to go look for Jordan and the girls. See what you can do about getting rid of those cars,” I tell Silas. I reach for my handgun and start making my way up the stairs. “Jordan?” 

“Perry!” he calls back immediately. He steps out from my study. 

“Do you know if there are 

e more of them?” 

“No,” he shakes his head. “We’re unarmed. They don’t stay down 

He steps out. There are bite marks on his arms and blood all over his clothes. I toss him my gun and reach for the last one. “Clear the hall. Aim for their throats, I order. “Then move up.” 

He nods and turns around to shut the door behind him. I slowly make my way up the next flight of stairs to clear the third floor. The rooms are all empty. I see Jordan clearing the fourth and I head up to the fifth where my room and Natalie’s are. 

The atmosphere up here is different and as soon as I place my foot on the final stepiny body reacts to it. It’s an odd kind of darkness. It’s almost alive. I raise my gun and turn in the direction it’s coming from. My room. This is the person who was watching me when the King and I went on our first date. 

My hands tingle as I get closer to my door. My body is trembling as 1 reach for the doorknob. There’s no sound. It’s one thing I hate about formers. The only thing left behind is the sinister aura of their evil gaze. I push the door open. There, at the end of my bed is the silhouette of a shadow waiting for me. As its eyes land on me, my body screams out in alarm. 

“Hey, she greets me. “It’s been a while,”
