Since it was just the two of them, Ava kept the grocery run simple-one fresh fish, a cut of lean pork, some vegetables, and a container of pre-cut fruit. Ryan, meanwhile, tossed a pair of fruity alcoholic drinks into the cart. Once they finished shopping, they returned home and got straight to preparing dinner.
After slipping into her apron, Ava noticed Ryan had also bought the matching men’s version. She cleared her throat lightly and looked at him in confusion. “You don’t even know how to cook. Why exactly did yo need that?”
As he awkwardly sorted through the vegetables, Ryan replied casually, “I can always learn/later when I’ve got the time.”
Ava had absolutely no confidence in his culinary abilities. Watching him fumble with the vegetables alone was enough to give her a migraine.
Unable to bear it any longer, she took them from his hands. “Not like that. Watch carefully. Hold it here first, then pull gently.”
Only after making sure he was doing it correctly did she finally return to preparing the meat.
Before long, several dishes were ready. A braised fish, stir-fried pork slices with bell peppers, and two light vegetable sides. Knowing Ryan’s profession required him to stay in shape. Ava intentionally kept the meal healthy and mild.
Ryan enthusiastically carried each plate to the table, guided Ava to the table, and even pulled out her chair for her like an overly attentive gentleman.
“You must’ve put in so much effort. Thanks for cooking for me, Ava. It already looks incredible.”
Before taking his first bite, Ryan eagerly snapped a picture of the meal.
Ava looked at him, puzzled. “It’s just a basic homemade dinner. Why are you taking photos?”
Ryan set down his phone and looked at her seriously. “Because this isn’t ordinary. You made it yourself- for me. How could that possibly be ordinary?”
He deliberately emphasized the
words “for me.”
This was the very first time Ava had personally cooked for him. In fact, until now, he hadn’t even realized she knew how to cook at all.
Maybe this was even the first complete meal she had ever prepared for someone. And if no other man had ever tasted her cooking before, then that meant he was the first.
That thought alone filled Ryan with overwhelming satisfaction, a warm sense of pride bubbling inside him at being treated as someone uniquely important to her.
He poured her a drink, and Ava gave it a cautious sniff.
“This smells a little alcoholic.”

“It’s just a fruit wine cooler-low alcohol,” Ryan explained. “Most girls like this kind. Don’t you?”
He had specifically chosen that brand for her.
Ava took a tentative sip before nodding. “It’s actually pretty good.”
Ryan sampled the vegetables first, and his expression instantly brightened.
“This is delicious. Simple dishes like this are the real test of cooking skill.”
He immediately gave her an enthusiastic thumbs-up before moving on to the other plates.

“Ava, is there anything you can’t do? Cooking isn’t easy, but somehow you’re amazing at it too. You definitely would’ve aced home economics.”
Ava shot him a look. “Less talking, more eating. I still need to go back for training afterward.”
Once dinner was over, Ryan voluntarily took over dish duty. When he finished cleaning up, he found Ava crouched nearby, quietly watching the cat.
Naturally, he snapped another photo.
He then sent both the dinner pictures and the cat photo to their five-person group chat.
The bragging was entirely intentional.
Ryan had been away from Capitol Planet for quite some time, and he had no idea how close the others had become with Ava during his absence.
So naturally, he wasn’t about to miss the opportunity to flaunt his progress.
Mason texted, “So this is what happened when you took her out to dinner?”
That was exactly the reaction Ryan had been hoping for.
Ryan: Ava personally cooked all of this for me! Homemade by her own hands! That’s worth way more than any luxury meal. You wouldn’t understand, Mason!
Mason: I’m not arguing with a fool.
Ryan: Sure, keep pretending. You’re obviously jealous. I’m the first man who’s ever eaten her cooking. That clearly makes me special!
Mason: Whatever you say.
Keith: Actually, you’re not first. Ava made handmade ravioli for my birthday once. Personally.
Keith attached several photos as proof.
One image, however, was deleted almost immediately.

Even so, Ryan had already caught a glimpse of it-and his jaw nearly shattered from grinding his teeth.
Ryan: Where exactly did you take her? Why was she wearing something that revealing? What did you do?
Keith: Revealing? It was a swimsuit. What are you? Are you from the ancient Terran era? Whatever Avajand I do is none of your business. And no, I’m definitely not giving you details–you’d probably die from jealousy.
Mason: So Ava’s got that kind of figure? Maybe I should take her to the beach next time.
Mason: Anyway, I’m supervising her physical training today. Ryan, bring her over as soon as you’re done.
After taking some time to relax, Ryan escorted Ava back to her place.
Her residence was conveniently close to Starry Heavens University-only about a seven- or eight-minute walk away. The villa itself belonged to one of Mason’s business associates and was currently being loaned to Ava temporarily.
Ava brought Ryan inside, only to find Mason hadn’t arrived yet.
After changing into indoor shoes, she said, “Make yourself at home.”
She handed him a cup of warm water before adding, “My fitness coach should be here soon, so I won’t have time to keep you company. Just relax.”
As soon as she finished speaking, the home’s security system announced a visitor notification from
property management.
Only after verifying the guest’s identity was entry approved.
