Chapter 76

After we left the bathroom we wiped our bodies dry and I offered to dry his hair.

“Sit down,” I told him.

He sat and I ran the towel through his hair and then used a a hand dryer, while outside Riley and Beth struck the door with a tool, trying to break it down.

They were going to be so tired later.

After I finished he stood and got dressed. I watched him pull on his boxers, his jeans, his black t-shirt.

“What was actually in the box?” I asked.

He looked at the toolbox and raised a brow. “Have you ever seen a handyman without his tools?”

I laughed. “Classic.”

I had only a towel around my waist while he got ready to leave.

“Ditch the beard,” I told him. “The cap is enough.”

“Yes ma’am,” he replied, dropping the fake beard into the box like it had personally offended him.

He put the cap on and walked to the door. He stood there for a few seconds, staring at me like he did not

want to leave.

“I will see you soon,” he said finally. “Sooner than you think.”

“I will be waiting,” I told him.

He moved closer and kissed me deeply one more time. Then he went to the door, unlocked it, and pulled it open from behind.

Once Riley and Beth saw it was open, they left the tools they had been using and barged into the room. Seeing me in my towel with my hair wet, they stared at me in shock. Then they stared at Dominic.

“You,” Riley pointed at him. “You had a beard when you came in here. What were you doing alone with my brother’s wife for this long?”

He looked at them.

Then he turned to me.

I smiled warmly. “Thank you so much for today. You really fixed everything that needed fixing. Goodbye.”

He nodded and walked away. The most unbothered exit I had ever witnessed in my life.

Beth kept staring at me. Finally she spoke.

“I always knew you were a slut,” she announced, with the energy of a woman delivering a prepared

speech she had been rehearsing for years. “Look at you. Your hair is soaking wet and you are half naked. I have already called Julian. Today he is going to divorce your cheating ass.”

“Wonderful,” I said pleasantly, pushed both women out of my room and locked the door.

I went to the window and watched Dominic until he got out of the gate and entered the back seat of a car parked outside. I did not need a soothsayer to tell me Sparrow was the one driving.

Just as the car started to move, Julian’s car came driving inside. He barely parked. He just opened the door and practically flew out.

I shook my head with a smile and went to put on my clothes. I heard Julian knocking the door. I also heard his mother and his sister taking turns telling him exactly what kind of woman his wife was.

Julian kept pounding the door but I ignored him. Once I was done getting dressed, I touched up my makeup, leaving my hair still a little damp.

I looked at my reflection in the mirror and smiled.

“I look really good,” I told myself.

I picked up my bag and went to the door where Julian was knocking violently. I opened it and he barged inside, his mother and sister trailing behind him like loyal little shadows.

His eyes were red with anger, shooting daggers. “You brought a man to my house and stayed alone with him in your bedroom?”

“What is the big deal?” I shrugged. “He came here to fix something important. And trust me, he did a very good job.”

I licked my lips slowly on the last part.

Julian shook his head. “No, Celeste. I know what you are trying to do. You are deliberately trying to upset me. This is retaliation. Bringing in a man, wetting your hair, all to make me jealous.”

*Julian,” his mother cut in, “this woman is nothing but a whore.”

“Oh, please.” I rolled my eyes. “I have an important meeting. I do not have time for this drama.”

I went toward the bed and began to fix it up, deliberately drawing their attention. Riley was the one who

saw it first.

She went closer. “What is this?”
