Chapter 36

I picked up my phone and called Celeste.

“Seraphine is in my lobby,” I said. “She has been waiting for hours and she has no intention of leaving. Would you like to come by and irritate her a little?”

There was a brief pause.

“With all pleasure,” Celeste replied.

I informed my receptionist and my secretary. Celeste was expected. She was to be greeted with every courtesy, shown directly up, given the full treatment. I wanted the contrast to be unmistakable from the moment she walked through the door.

My original plan was a simple one. Celeste would come, we would watch Seraphine’s face from the security feed while we ate lunch, and she would leave. A pleasant hour. Nothing more complicated than

that.

But then Celeste walked into my office.

It was the way her hips moved. The confidence in her stride, the royal blue jacket open just enough, the knowing expression when her eyes found mine across the room. She looked at me and my cock went hard before she had crossed half the distance between us.

I stood up as she reached my desk. I did not bother pretending otherwise.

“Look at what you do to me,” I said.

Her eyes dropped. Then rose back to meet mine. “Let me take care of that for you.”

She started to lower herself, her hand moving toward my belt.

I stopped her.

“I have a much better idea.”

I walked to the door and locked it. Picked up my phone and called my secretary. Gave instructions not to be disturbed for any reason short of a genuine emergency.

Then I turned back to Celeste, who was watching me with her head tilted and that particular expression she wore when she was trying to work out what I was planning.

I went to my desk and opened the lower drawer. Inside was a box, sleek and black and unassuming. I

had bought it days ago, with the intention of using it much later, when the game had progressed further. But she was standing in front of me in that outfit and I did not want to wait.

I set the box on the desk and opened it.

Celeste’s eyes widened slightly.
