Two Can Play (Celeste and Dominic) novel Chapter 328

Chapter 328

“I love you, Celeste. I love you to death. I cannot live without you.”

“Julian, let go of me.”

“Please. Please, just give me one more chance. One chance, Celeste. I will make you the happiest woman in the world. I will spend every day of my life proving to you that I can be the man you deserve.”

I yanked my hands out of his grip and stepped back, putting a full arm’s length of distance between us. “You had your chance, Julian. But you spent every single one of them with your cock inside my best friend and God knows how many other women. The auction is closed. There are no more chances to bid on.”

“I made mistakes.” His voice cracked on the word, and he wiped his nose with the back of his hand in a gesture that was so pathetic I almost felt sorry for him. “I made terrible, horrible mistakes, and I regret them more than anything else in my life. But at least I am not as horrible as Dominic Ford.”

I stared at him, my brows furrowing. “What did you just say?”

“Dominic.” He spat the name like it tasted of something rotten. “Everything he has done, everything he is doing, it is all part of his plan to destroy our marriage. He does not love you, Celeste. He is using you for revenge.”

“Get Dominic’s name out of your filthy mouth.” My voice came out low and dangerous, the voice of a woman who had reached the limit of her patience and was now operating on reserves she did not know she possessed. “You are not half the man Dominic is. You are not even a fraction of him.”

“He is pretending.” Julian’s eyes were wild now, darting back and forth, the eyes of a man who had convinced himself of something so thoroughly that reality had ceased to matter. “I have proof. Just a few days ago, Dominic had sex with a girl called Scarlett and her friend, Tasha. Both of them. At the same time. I saw it happen. When I tried to confront him about it, he attacked me.” He gestured at the cast around his neck with a trembling hand. ” He broke my neck, Celeste. He broke my neck and left me on the floor like garbage.”

I scoffed. The sound came out harsher than I intended. “Do you seriously expect me to trust anything that comes out of your mouth? You, the man who lied to me for so long?”

“I have proof.” He fumbled in his pocket and pulled out a small recording device, holding it up like a prosecutor presenting Exhibit A to a skeptical jury. “This is Dominic’s voice, Celeste. His own words, spoken from his own mouth. Listen to it. Just listen.”

He pressed play before I could protest, and the recording filled the space between us with a voice I recognized instantly. It was Dominic. Unmistakably, undeniably Dominic, his tone cold and mocking in a way I had never heard it directed at anyone except his enemies.

“Are you threatening me, Julian? You see, you are Celeste’s husband. If you go ahead and tell the world about my affair with her, you will be the one shamed along with her. Everyone will say your wife came to me because you could not satisfy her. Do you really think I care whether you or Celeste are shamed before the public? I could not care less. You already said it yourself. This is payback for what you did. So I am not going to stop until I get bored. What are you going to do about it?”
