Two Can Play (Celeste and Dominic) novel Chapter 238

Chapter 238

I closed my eyes and buried sy face in his chest, breathing in the familiar scent of him, feeling the warmth of his body against mine, and I felt safer than had any right to feel given the circumstances.

And then he lifted me off the ground.

I let out a small sound of surprise as his arms slid onder my knees and behind my back, cradling me against him like I weighed nothing at all. The camera shutters went into overdrive a frenzy of light and sound that painted the inside of my eyelids in flashes of white. I kept my face buried in his chest, my fingers gripping the fabric of his shirt, as he carried me through the crowd.

He opened the back door of his car, and set me down gently on the leather seat. He closed the door, muffling the noise of the reporters to a dull hum, and I watched through the tinted window as he walked around to the other side and slid in beside me.

The door clicked shut and the silence rushed in to fill the space.

I stared at him. He stared back at me, that infuriatingly calm expression on his face, the corner of his mouth twitching like he was fighting the urge to smile.

“Are you crazy?” The words burst out of me before I could stop them. “Why did you do that, Dominic?”

He did not answer. He just leaned in and crashed his lips into mine.

I tried to push him away. I really did. My hands went to his chest and I pressed against him, my mind screaming about the reporters still outside, about the cameras still flashing, about the fact that I was not yet divorced and every single person in this city was about to see photographic evidence of me and Dominic Ford being intimate. But he did not let go. His arms wrapped around me, pulling me closer, and his mouth moved against mine with a hunger that made my resistance crumble like paper in

a storm.

I stopped pushing..

I melted into him, my hands sliding up to his neck, my fingers threading through his hair, my mouth opening under his as I kissed him back with every ounce of frustration and longing and confusion that had been building inside me all day. His tongue slid against mine, slow and deep, and I felt the tension in my shoulders dissolve, felt the knot in my chest loosen, felt the world outside this car shrink to nothing.

When we finally broke apart, we were both breathing hard. I turned my face away, looking out the window at the reporters still lingering on the sidewalk, their cameras still pointed in our direction.

Dominic took my hand and placed it against his chest, pressing my palm flat over his heart, wrapping his fingers around mine.

I turned back to look at him. “And what are you trying to do now?”
