Two Can Play (Celeste and Dominic) novel Chapter 138

Chapter 138

CELESTE

I walked up the stairs, ignoring the eyes that followed me, and made my way to the guest room where I had left everything I had already packed.

I carried my box down the stairs, the weight of it solid and real, and when I reached the bottom of the staircase I saw that the living room had fallen into complete silence.

Three pairs of eyes looked up at me in shock. Julian was still on the floor, his knees pressed against the tile. Elizabeth stood beside him, one hand resting on his shoulder like she was trying to hold him together. Riley was a few feet away, her hand pressed against the cheek I had slapped, her eyes wide as she watched me descend with my box in my hand.

Julian struggled to his feet, his legs’shaky, his balance unsteady, and he walked toward me with a gait that was slow and uncertain. He stopped in front of me and looked at the box I was dragging with pae, his eyes moving over it like he was trying to process what it meant.

“What are you doing?” he asked, his voice hoarse.

“What does it look like?” I said. “Obviously, I am leaving.”

He stared at me, his mouth hanging open, his expression shifting from confusion to disbelief to desperation in the span of a few seconds. I walked past him toward the door but he moved quickly, cutting me off, his hand reaching out and grabbing the edge of the box, holding it, refusing to let go.

“You knew all this time,” he said, his eyes sad and wet. “Why did you not say anything? Why did you not confront me?”

I scoffed and met his gaze. “What for?”

“What do you mean, what for?” His grip on the box tightened, his knuckles whitening. “I am your husband. You should have told me you knew. You should have given me a chance to explain, to apologize, to make things right.”

I laughed, the sound dry and humorless. “Make things right? Julian, you knew what you were doing when you chose to start fucking Seraphine. You knew every single time you drove your cock into her pussy that you were betraying me. You knew every time you took her to a resort or a hotel or God knows where else that you were ignoring your own wife at home who had needs that were not being fulfilled. You knew and you did not care. So why would I waste my breath confronting you when I could simply find someone else to fulfill those needs for me?”

His face crumpled. “Now someone else is fulfilling those needs. Since it has come to this, it is time for us to go our separate ways.
