Too Late To Love Me I Already Left With His Twins (Lydia and Dave) novel Chapter 171

Lydia’s POV

After Dave left, the house finally became quiet again.

Not peaceful quiet.

Just exhausted quiet.

The kind that settled after too many emotions had happened in one day.

I stayed in Eli’s room for almost the entire evening after that. I didn’t trust myself enough to go too far from him. Even though Dr Smith had reassured me repeatedly that the fever was under control and the allergic reaction had passed, my body still refused to relax fully.

Because mothers were irrational like that.

One fainting episode and suddenly your brain started preparing for every possible tragedy that had never even happened.

I sat beside him while he slept, occasionally touching his forehead every fifteen minutes like I was conducting scientific research. Each time his temperature felt lower, I calmed down for approximately forty seconds before anxiety returned again.

Eventually I went downstairs to make him something homemade because suddenly I no longer trusted any food outside my supervision.

I made light soup, soft rice, vegetables, fruits, enough water to hydrate an entire football team, and tea that Dr Smith did not even recommend but emotionally felt necessary to me.

By nighttime, Eli finally woke up again properly.

This time his eyes looked clearer.

More awake.

More like himself.

And honestly?

I nearly cried from relief immediately.

He blinked around the room sleepily while pushing himself upright against the pillows.

“Mom?”

I immediately moved closer.

“How are you feeling?”

He frowned thoughtfully like he was checking inside himself for answers.

“My head feels less weird.”

Less weird.

Medical excellence.
